• Submissions open from now until Wednesday December 29th, 2010.
• Voting Starts January 3rd, 2011 and ends January 7th, 2011. - see above update
  
• Winner announced a couple of days after voting ends.
  

What is the Smart Canucks Cute Pet Contest?

SmartCanucks is a fun contest that allows SmartCanucks members to share cute pictures of their pets and win prizes. The objective of the contest is to have a great and enjoyable time on SmartCanucks.

Get your cameras ready! ALL pictures need to be current and taken by YOU. Pictures taken by a photographer are not allowed.

All members of SmartCanucks will then vote for the cute pets and the top 30 winners will all win gift cards!

We can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

The Prizes

There will be 30 prizes in total The gift cards will be from a well known retailer like Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart, Metro, etc. We will allow the winners to list their top 5 gift card preferences.
1st: $50 Gift Card (Loblaws or Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.)
2nd: $40 Gift Card(Loblaws or Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.)
3rd: $30 Gift Card(Loblaws or Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.)
4th: $20 Gift Card (Loblaws or Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.)
5th - 15th: $10 Gift Card each (Loblaws or Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.)
16th - 30th: $5 Gift Card each(Loblaws or Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.)

How to join the contest

** PLEASE THOROUGHLY READ THIS POST BEFORE ENTERING YOUR IMAGE - IF THESE STEPS LISTED BELOW ARE NOT MET YOUR PHOTO MAY BE REMOVED WITHOUT WARNING**

First of all you need to take your cute pet picture. You have a lot of time to come up with a good picture so don't rush it. No professional (photographer) pictures will be accepted and will be deleted without notice. You may only enter 1 picture into the contest. If you have multiple pets you can submit a picture that has them all in that picture or enter one of the pets. The bottom line is that each person is only allowed 1 entry into the contest.

Be creative! The picture can be funny or cute or in a certain interesting setting.

Once you have that special picture it's time to enter it here. Please follow the instructions below

**NOTE: You must use Smart Canucks image uploading. It automatically resizes the image to fit into your post. Enormous or outside image hosted pictures will be deleted without notice.**

If you already know how to upload skip to step 6 but keep step 4 in mind:

1. First select your username in the top right corner of any page.


2. After you choose that it'll take you to your user profile. In there choose "Show All Albums".


3. Next choose, "Add Album".


4. You will be taken to an album set up screen like the one below. Be advised that when you create this album it'll have to be made "PUBLIC" otherwise those NOT on your friends lists will not see your pic. Therefore it'll ruin your chances at some good votes.


5. Once you have them uploaded. They'll be stored in your album. To post it, use the BB Code. Copy that long code and paste it into the post you'd like the image to be visible.


Be advised as well that the BB Code will look like the following when you post it:


6. You also need to provide the following information with your picture:

• Name your picture! Be creative.
• Your relationship to the things or place involved in the image.
  
• A cute short story about the picture – no story, no entry. Period.

Place it ABOVE your image in your entry post:

• Story: Tell us about your pet(s)! Write something interesting, cute or funny that your pet does
  

7. One picture per person. You are MORE then welcome to upload more then one photo and link to your album. If you'd like to learn how to insert a link into words you can do so HERE Only post the picture you are entering. All others will be removed in order to keep the thread clean.

Fubu, our 13 year old purebred Himalayan:

"I'm the King of the Jungle" or so he thinks! Here, he had just finished getting a haircut and is feeling 5 lbs lighter. We love getting him the "lion cut" which makes him look exotic and he's always much happier once he loses his mats which must hurt!

One night when my boyfriend was over Buddy wasn't feeling well. When he doesn't feel well he tends to stick to someone like glue to "protect him". This is what happened.

Sugar Plum Faerie

Sugar is such a momma's boy. He follows me around making the cutest faces and totally sucking up. He loves hanging out and cuddling on the couch. I just love this smooochy face. <3

Top Hatt, my 1 1/2 year old orange tabby:

"Nom Nom Nom....I love ice cream!" Top Hatt is enjoying a lick of DH's ice cream cone. I'm soo against feeding my cat any kind of human food, but my DH lets him have some ice cream as soon as I turn my back. Now Top Hatt knows when you walk into the house with ice cream, and will jump on top of you to try to get as close to your ice cream as possible!!

"Boots with the fur"

This is Mailbu (aka: Boots), our 5 year old mutt. She's a Husky-Lab mix (so they tell us!) She's a crazy, crazy dog. Everyone loves her with her big fluffy coat (which I don't love so much!!!) and her multi-coloured eyes!!

This would be her "I got caught" face.

• Max the rat enjoying her first snack in her new home with us!

• Max was brought to us us Christmas eve along with her sister Lucky (lucky is camera shy) from "Santa". They were both saved from being used as food. Santa made a mistake though, telling us in his letter that they were brothers only to find out a few months later they are in fact sisters...LOL

This is Bailey. She is the newest addition to our family(she my sister's puppy). This picture was taken the day they picked her up. She was very playful when she met my kids but I was able to ge this picture when she settled down for a moment. I thought this was a very cute profile shot of her.
