I agree. When they come knocking, shut the door. Call your utility provider to confirm any deal before you sign anything. Your utility provider would mail you offers, not come to your door.

Timing is great, as is need. Credit is allocated-rare when it isn't.

Ontario residents have a tax credit coming in November on the 10th (if you did your 2010 tax return and qualified).

Note credit name change for July 2012, when the Ontario tax credits will be combined into one and into a monthly amount. http://www.rev.gov.on.ca/en/credit/stc/index.html

If you have registered for the My Account on the CRA page ..it will show you all the amounts you are supposed to get .

This October 5 - 2011 payment will be the same amount as the one you got on July 5 - 2011 .

The payments calendar goes from July to June & are based on your last year's return .

So all the payments from July -2011 to June - 2012 will be based on your 2010 IT return .

You can use the calaculator below to see how much the ON credits are going to be . It won't show you the HST credit but will show you the various other credits like OSTC , OEPTC etc .

Where do you sign up for direct deposit for this? I find that you can see the credit in the CRA My Account Website, but the direct deposit system on there seems to be only for tax returns and federal credits like baby bonus, etc. Thoughts?

When you filed your taxes if you did a DD for your IT refund then even the OSTC will automatically be DD .

When will I receive my Ontario Sales Tax Credit payments?

The credit is a non-taxable quarterly payment that will be issued separately from the GST/HST credit payments. To provide more timely assistance, the Ontario Sales Tax Credit will provide advance payments and will be issued quarterly, in August, November, February and May of each year.

If you receive your income tax refund by direct deposit, you will also receive your Ontario Sales Tax Credit payments by direct deposit. Otherwise, you will receive a cheque.
Effective July 2012 and for subsequent years, payments of the Ontario Sales Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit and the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit will be combined into a single benefit payment called the Ontario Trillium Benefit and delivered on a monthly basis.
