Blizzard has announced that they will be releasing Cataclysm, the latest expansion of the popular World of Warcraft MMORPG on December 7. Amazon.ca and Bestbuy have the expansion priced at CAD$44.99+tax.
If you're interested in saving a few dollars, you may want to look into pre-ordering and purchasing the expansion directly from Blizzard's Battle.Net for US$39.99 (around CAD$40 as of time of posting).
More information can be found on Curse.com's article on the upgrade.
Since my husband only wanted to play the game (and didn't care about the special features and what not on the collector's edition), the digital download made sense for us. The file was only around 700-800MB, so we were able to download and upgrade without going over our monthly bandwidth usage allowance. This thread is currently associated with: Amazon.ca & Amazon.com, Best Buy

Thanks for posting.
I've been torn between the regular expansion in the box and the digital download. There is talk that the digital download doesn't include any of the cinematics, if those are something you might be interested in. It doesn't really matter to be, as I am sure they will be on YouTube asap.
Either way I won't be able to play the night of the release as I have to work the next day, and I don't think it's active until 12 est (which is 1:30am for me). I'll probably end up with the download as well.

Just a quick heads up on the cinematics, although they weren't included in the initial download (the 700mb one), Blizzard will be making them available in a patch closer to the December 7 release date. Wowhead has the details.

For those who prefer to buy the disks rather than the digital download, Dell is selling this at $39.99, which is much cheaper than the $44.99-49.99 other retailers have as their list prices.

I hate paying for expansions so I was determined to get this for free. After hearing about it's release months ago, I begun to collect Swagbucks to redeem for $5 Amazon.ca gift cards. I finally ended up with enough to pre-order the expansion last month and paid absolutely nothing for it. Yay.
Digital download though would be handy if you were really detemined to stay up late and check it out when it goes live. Personally I do not mind waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
I did do the trick to download the cataclysm files already though. So my copy of WoW is already updated, it will just require the key with no need to even use the CDsLast edited by BobSagget; Sun, Nov 21st, 2010 at 08:59 PM.
