Observation While at the SAQ - Learned Something New
As most of you know, I haven't lived here in Montreal very long - a little over a year now.
Tonight I ran to the SAQ to pick up a couple bottles of wine and I made an observation that I had never noticed before.
When I bought the wine, I assumed I'd be paying the 12.5% (QST and HST) in tax on top of the shelf prices. But I didn't. The prices at SAQ were inclusive of the taxes.
Whereas, everytime I've picked up wine at the Grocery Store the taxes are in addition to the shelf price. So an $8 Bottle of Wine is really $9 with taxes.
Thus, the lesson learned for me is - buy my wine at SAQ. :) My personal cap on a bottle of wine is no more than $10 - but preferably around $8 or $9 for everyday consumption ;) Around $15 when bringing wine to a friend's house :)
Is it like this at all SAQs?
