scop = scanning code of practice
there was a thread discussing this and it also listed all the stores that participate; i don't know where that thread went but basically if an item is scanned at a higher price then advertised you are entitled to get that item for free (up to $10) or $10 off the price. Some stores do not participate in scop. I know for sure LD and SW do. LD post the scop at the customer service desk - it's small you'll have to look for it. SW post their on the back of the computer at each till - not sure if they still do.
i only used scop like 2 times in since i joined SC.

I've used it at Extra-Foods and Superstore. I find you have to mention the scanning code of practice, otherwise they will just charge you the correct price. I don't assume it's intentional on the cashiers part, I think they just forget about SCOP.
It's best to check your receipt before you leave the store, because it's easier for customer service to refund it if they can scan the item(s).

Sobey's participates. I got a pack of 18 eggs free last week or the week before. The shelf price was $3.49 and they rang in at $3.99. Most cashiers don't seem to know about SCOP... in this case, he didn't know, but he had to call the manager over to overwrite the price anyway, so mentioned it to the manager who of course did know.

Actually, for Superstore, it's happened to me that the cashier got in trouble for offering the SCOP to me (even though I knew about it anyway). Other times, the cashier got "the look" from the manager and they've said "She asked for it!" That's one thing I don't like about Superstore, the management seems to really try to avoid giving out a SCOP. I've never had it happen myself, but I've heard stories of Superstore runners removing the offending price sign when they do a price check to avoid having to give out the SCOP!

Canadian Tire also follows the SCOP, but know the prices and watch as items are being scanned. I got a free pair of aqua shoes (price $9.99 - scanned at $14.99) when I pointed it out to a cashier. She didn't understand SCOP, but her supervisor showed her how to put it through.
