As long as your total AFTER use of coupons and taxes is $20 you are ok. So say you shop for $30, you can use coupons for $10 MAXIMUM. Your total would then be $20 PLUS tax, so in Alberta (where I live) it would have to be $21.00 (5%GST).
Also remember, that say you buy soda or milk, the deposit and recycling fees should be over and above the $20. So say you buy 4 litres of milk for $4.00, and the recycling fee is 0.05cents and container deposit is 0.25cents, the 0.30cents is not included in the $20.00 total.
In order to be safe, I always spend $21 or $22 - at least. In that way you are covered.

yay I sent an e-mail requesting a group
...am wondering....do we need to be concerned about anyone taking our points ? I recall a thread last year where a member lost 100,000's of points not sure if it happened during/after this event as the thread was locked and we were never updated on the outcome just that there was proof the member had their points stolen and redeemed.....any update would be welcome

I missed the last one but not this time. Info sent and thanks cyanne for doing this again!
IsabelT, be very careful. If you're using a SDM gift CARD, then there should be no problem. But sometimes people have SDM gift CERTIFICATES, which act like coupons. Just make sure your spend is a minimum of $20 AFTER coupons and certificates.
Everyone want to maximize their value on this but make sure you get it right. Keep it clean and correct.
