Do others experience this same problem?

When I started couponing in the spring, my DH didn't really get it either. But as time went on, and I started showing him how little I paid when I shopped, he came around to the idea. At first he would tease me a bit and say that I was "cheap", but he has totally warmed up to couponing. Now he even looks for coupons for me, and will occasionally use coupons.

Just keep track of everything you're saving, and at the end of the month, tell him "Hey hunny, I saved $xx.xx this month using coupons!". Eventually, I'm sure he will warm up to the idea once he sees how much you're saving.

Mine is ok......I love that when he is home he gives me my time to coupon He usually goes with our son in the basement and plays Thomas the train but sometimes they are playing music together. They each have there own drum set so we are noisy around here.... If i send him to the store he usually takes some coupons with him just in case and if he sees any in-store oneshe pciks them up for me...

I am very pleased to say that my DH now is a lurker on SmartCanucks!!!!! He couldn't be bothered with any of my couponing, but he has come around! It is cute watching him surf the site!

Oh Poodlegirl...I read your post and I cried for you. What you said isn't complaining. I've been there, and it sucks hardcore some days. If couponing is something fun for you, do it! Sometimes, a good deal at WM is all that gets me through the day!!

I won't tell you how to live your life, and believe me, I understand spouses with anxiety, but...please, please, please tell me he is getting help. It sounds like you have several full-time jobs right now. His full-time job needs to be working on his mental health, and the first way to do that is to get help.

Maybe try putting the savings from couponing in a jar for a month or two & show him how much you saved your family! Sometimes a "visual" will help them understand.

Like so many others, my husband was skeptical at first but is really on board now. He has been amazed at what I pay sometimes. He actually gets disappointed when I don't have a coupon for something.

To the OP, nobody can know what it is like to be in your shoes. I just want to say though that if this makes you happy, helps you cope financially and you have an enjoyment from doing this, then stay with this. SC is a wonderful community and you can benefit so much from being a part of it.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I've been seriously couponing for a year now and my DH still isn't on board with me. He doesn't understand why we need to wait for a sale instead of buying the item at full price. I just tell him we don't buy it unless its on sale and I have a coupon for it. I'm not as fortunate as others who have posted about their DH's actually using coupons. I've asked DH a few times to stop at the grocery store for me and pick up a few things and he always tells me if he has to use coupons, he won't do it. It makes me upset and I feel like he doesn't really care about my couponing. Its something I enjoy doing and I love the "high" you get when you've got a whole lot of items for next to nothing.

I do have to agree with the others though, the issue is not the couponing at all. Your DH has some issues (hey who doesn't???). Help him to get the help that he needs! The difference can be amazing!

Now I admit my father was not really a fan of what I was doing in the beginning when I started here. He didn't grasp the concept of buying 20 packs of diapers at once until I said "Look, are they going to bad?" Answer: "NO." Me: "Are you going to use them all?" Him: "Yeah" Me: "Would you rather buy them at $18.99 or $10.00?". Him "Well you have a point there." BINGO!

NOW I have HIM going out with coupons and SDM runs and everytime there are coupons in the paper, he just hands them over to me.... I used to do most of the shopping (well still do) but I am house bound right now (I got my own issues!) so he is doing a lot more now and just follows my commands!!! LOL

But you are in a rock and a hard place, I hope you find a peaceful resolution to all of this... good luck to you and keep on finding those deals!

My hubby used to be upset, but he realized how quickly the money saved added up, so he doesn't say anything anymore. Also, he uses cpns now more then he ever did. Right now he's really excited about the bread on sale at No Frills!

DH is Dear Husband or (D*** Husband depending on context LOL)
DS is dear son Dd dear daughter... etc..
