Sweet as pie and with a smile on my face, as she stared at me and then proceeded to do two separate transactions.

Whatever works, as long as I get mah dealzz.

Wow, I am sorry to hear I wasn't the only one... Maybe this is something new coming down from head office? I guess we'll see when I get a reply from them next week! God, you think we are criminal or something!

The reason I ask is that I had the most terrible coupon experience there and will not shop there again. We went there at around 11 am this morning and picked up the deals that interested us with coupons of course, and when we went to cash out our groceries, I proceeded to tell her I had a bunch of coupons to use and I'll be placing them on my products. She said, no problem but please give them to her at the end and she'll cash them through at that time. I said OK. When she sub-totaled the order it was $74.00 and change. I gave her the coupons (I may have had $15-$20 in coupons) and when she got to her $10 limit (we all know overrides are required after $10 in coupons at Loblaws stores and since I regularly use coupons, I have dealt with this before with no issues, both at this location and the other Loblaws affiliate in town -- YIGs)she said she was unable to process anymore as she had reached her limit. I told her this has happened in the past and just get a supervisor to override the rest of the coupons. She said she wouldn't do that. DH, who is an Assistant Manager at a Wal-Mart, indicated that we should be able then to run our order through in segments so all the coupons could be run through in separate orders but still respect the $10 coupon limit per order. She said she would need to void the entire order and start again. By this time, we were both frazzled both with her beligerence and rude behaviour as well as the fact she wasn't calling Management for assistance to explain the situation etc., not to mention the fact, had we known she would give us a hard time using more than $10 coupons at a time, we would have put the coupons out with the products as I was going to originally, instead of giving them to her at the end to avoid this problem entirely. Finally, DH told her to void the entire sale and we left without purchasing a single item. That was a loss in $74.00 sale (as, of course, we know the retailers get reimbursement for the coupons)

I realize the Dollar Sale was going on and this may have made the store a bit busy, but there was no reason for her attitude nor the rudeness she displayed to not only us, but obviously witnessed by the other customers in the line. DH said we will not be going back there again and I just finished writing No Frills head office to let them know about the horrible customer service at that store.

So I am glad you were able to go there and take advantage of the sale, but unfortunately for me it turned into a right nightmare and made my smile turn upside down
So sorry you had to deal with all of that.

No Frills sure is inconsistent with their $10 coupon override policy. I was there on Saturday evening and had $65 worth of products. I used $46 in coupons (58 coupons in total) and there wasn't a problem. This cashier must have been a supervisor because she didn't need to get an override done by someone else. She just counted out the coupons, punched in the total number for each kind of product, and off we went. Having used $46 in coupons, I paid a total of $19.00 out of pocket.

I just want to say - I'm completely surprised at seeing a 'negative' post on this website. I have always found it so refreshing how helpful everyone is. AND if there's something negative someone wants to say that isn't really 'helpful' people tend to keep it to themselves...or spin it in the positive and helpful way. THAT's what it's like here...no negative/mean posts PLEASE!

OH - and I'm heading to NF today - SO excited and thanks for all the extra information posted here.

WOW $46 in coupons! That's great! May I ask what were some of the coupons you used? I would love to save that much as well! I have lots to learn lol!

    Sure, , I used:

    24 x $ .50 Catelli Garden Select Pasta Sauce
    24 x $1.00 Egg Creations
10 x $1.00 Tetley Infusions 1.89L (Blueberry flavour, which had the coupons attached to the bottle)

The Pasta Sauce and Egg Creations were on sale at last year's No Frills $1 sale so I saved/traded for enough that I was prepared for this year's sale. The Tetley was something I learned about from a thread on SC!

I went on Saturday evening and they had stacks and stacks of $1 products and they just kept coming out with more. It probably helped that the store wasn't busy at that time so there was actually room to move in the aisles.

I also used over $50 in coupons and I had no problem. It all depends on the cashier.

If you are referring to my post, it wasn't meant to be negative or mean, it was just sharing a negative experience I had. I have been on the board nearly a year and a lot of people can vouch that others have also posted their negative experiences with cashiers, stores etc in the past. So I apologize if this upset you but it wasn't with that intention, I was just letting others know I had this issue. Those who know me here can vouch I am a positive, helpful SC'r as well.

I don't think it was your post! I think eriluo was referring to this post: http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/1766171-post29.html who I found very negative and really didn't appreciate it. I love to hear people's experiences, even if they're bad. I'm sorry you had a bad experience at NF. Maybe try again so you can use your coupons and do separate transactions? I know I would, show them who's boss. Lol. I don't know if you want to as you mentioned in your post, but maybe once you get a reply from NF head office, you might change your mind. Have they gotten back to you?

They did indeed get back to me and this is their email:

Thank you for taking the time to write us with your concern.

I am disappointed to learn your shopping experience has caused you to stop shopping in our stores.

We work hard to provide our colleagues with the appropriate training and support to ensure they deliver the type of service customers expect from No Frills. Needless to say, it was disappointing to hear about your experience.

I have shared your experience with the Store Manager to review and discuss with his team regarding the matter. Your comments have also been recorded and placed on our internal file.

As I can certainly appreciate your disappointment in the service you received, I do hope you will give us the privilege of continuing to serve you as one of our valued customers. Please accept our apology for your experience. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further concerns.

So I might take your advice and go on Thursday and see what happens. Definitely will do separate transactions

Thanks for your clarifications, help and support

eriluo - i was not referring to your post - sorry you thought so. I was referring to a post earlier on in the thread - adn I didn't mean to make a big deal out of it. i was just typing from the heart - maybe before i thought.

went to NF in Hamilton yesterday - it was a MAD house - and they were out of certain items - glad it's a two week sale.
