Kayla thats good...she pays a bit more because she buys in three month increments instead of 12 months...here in bc it's not that much, we have a 2010 pick up we pay 92.00 a month for and I pay 58 for my car.(2006 Mazda 3)

ours is so flippin' high because my dh is a commuter (1 1/2hrs each way) + he's been in 2 accidents in 3 years - both times his fault, following too close x2. not cool. so before the accidnets we were with 1 of the highest insurance companies around (the co-operators) and of course, nobody will take us on now because of his accidents. our rates went up almost $80 back in sept. when it was time to renew. so yup, it's that much.

Great to get a deal Kayla! Especially one you don't expect!
But still. Yow. These numbers are a big reason why we have chosen to be car free.
Before DH and I got married, his friend had decided he couldn't afford his new Honda Civic anymore (had a couple minor accidents and the already-high insurance shot up even more). So we looked into buying it.
This was over eight years ago. Neither DH nor myself had insurance in this province before, which pretty much makes us 16 year olds again (I WISH), but as far as insurance is concerned, we're 'new drivers.' The cost of insuring the car was going to be over $3,000 a year.
Over a late night bedroom conversation (funny how things get settled late at night while in bed!), DH and I (at that time DBF) decided that this wasn't a logical thing to do, and that instead, we should remain car-free and buy a house that was on some major public transit routes. We went house hunting.
We bought our house in August 2003, and got married less than a month later. Nearly eight years later, we remain car-free and are mostly happy with that arrangement. We wouldn't drive to work anyhow (parking is too expensive downtown), and I enjoy riding to work with time to read my newspaper. When we want to go away for the weekend, we rent.
Hard to go back once you've had the convenience of a car. But for now, we deal!

I think one of the reasons it's so cheap is because we drive a 1980 Chevy Malibu
hahah it's an old car but it's a GOOD car! :D

Wow! I can't believe insurance is that high! We pay 90$/month for our car, and our tenants insurance (needed to live in military housing) is 77$/year... No complaining here!

That would have been a nice surprise Kayla!!!
Wow $450....I don't even know what to say, lol.....I feel so bad that you guys have to pay that much it's crazy. Our insurance is $113/month which covers our car ('09), tenant plus a couple of misc. items.
