Has anyone seen any more of these?

    I have a few:

SaveOnFoods (Cameron location only) had a special on where if you're a new customer and you fill a prescription they'll give you a $10 gift card.

Zellers at Metrotown has a similar special, be a new customer and transfer/fill a prescription and they'll give you a $15 gift card.

Done both of these, looking for another one! Air miles would be awesome. I have a prescription that needs to be filled monthly.

I've been watching but haven't seen any more big bonus Airmiles coupons for prescriptions. My default pharmacy is still Safeway Pharmacy because I like to get the 7X Airmiles. Haven't actually been shopping at Safeway very much in the last few months. I do read the Westender every week so if there's a coupon in there, I'll probably see it.

I wonder if other points programs are starting to tighten up a but like Shoppers Optimum has. They keep us on our toes!

Starting Saturday Feb. 27th, there is a new bonus deal at Shoppers Drugmart for prescriptions. Specifically, if you TRANSFER a prescription to a SDM pharmacy from another pharmacy then you can choose one of two bonuses. The first one is a bundle of ten vouchers for 6,000 Shoppers Optimum Points for each prescription filled at SDM. So, after ten prescriptions you could get up to 60,000 points. The other option is to choose a bundle of ten vouchers for a $10 SDM gift card for each prescription filled at SDM. So, after ten prescriptions you could get up to $100 of SDM gift cards.

I'm just going on what I've read on a sign that I saw by the SDM pharmacy near where I live. I'm not sure if you can use one of the vouchers on the initial prescription that is transferred. And I'm not sure if prescriptions that are REFILLED count. I was told that there would be some information on this new bonus deal on SDM's website starting Saturday, Feb. 27 but I haven't seen it yet.

So anyway, just something to look out for and consider if you wanted to get some sort of bonus for your prescriptions. Personally, I might find it attractive if I have some smaller value prescriptions to fill as these don't get me as many Airmiles at Safeway Pharmacy. But if I do have some very high value prescriptions then I'd rather fill them at Safeway and get the 7X Airmiles on that dollar value. Have to crunch a few numbers here and hopefully SDM will get some more info out.

What do you need to "transfer"? I deal with Safeway since it's a 2 min walk from my place but I am interested in getting more SDM points if I can .

Can I still get some at Safeway or do I have to fully commit to SDM?

You'll have to ask the SDM pharmacist these questions because I don't know. I presume the SDM pharmacist would handle the transferring of the prescription on file at the other pharmacy. They might even just fax it to one another, I don't know.

I would need to know whether you could get the vouchers after filling the first prescription that was transferred and whether or not the further vouchers have to be used with a "new" prescription or whether they can be used with a "refill". I've always said that a "new" prescription written for you on paper is like gold because you can take it anywhere to get filled.

Some people won't go for this deal because they don't want to change pharmacies or pharmacists because they trust that they know their medical profile better and they know you better. So, it's up to you if you want to split your prescription business between different pharmacies. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to do that because I'm getting pretty simple stuff that doesn't have problems with side effects or interactions with other drugs.

And convenience is a big deal for some people, too. We need more info and need to crunch some numbers and weigh some pros and cons. I'll post more when I know more. If you happen to go by a SDM, pop in and ask the pharmacist what the specifics of the deal are.

Okay, I just got off the customer service line at SDM and I have a little more info. The transferring of prescriptions is handled between the pharmacists. You have to initiate the transfer by telling the SDM pharmacist and giving them the info on where your prescription is. The old pharmacy might contact you to confirm that's what you want to do (and maybe try to talk you out of it? ).

I was told that even if you have no more refills left on a prescription that it can still be transferred. You can use one of the vouchers the first time you get a prescription filled and can use one more voucher with each subsequent filling of a prescription at SDM whether it's a refill or new. So, I like that.

Now I have to go project the dollar value of my anticipated prescriptions and figure out the actual dollar value of the Airmiles I would get from them at Safeway as opposed to the dollar value of the SDM deal. I've gotten prescriptions that cost as little as $13. That's not very valuable at Safeway because it might get me as little as 6 Airmiles. But that same prescription could get me 6,000 Optimum points or a $10 SDM gift card.

Hmmm... just pounding my calculator here and I think that I would have to have a $171 prescription to fill at Safeway before I would get the dollar value back in Airmiles that would compare to the SDM deal. I think I can see where this is going. I'm still going to have a chat with the SDM pharmacist before I do anything. And you know what? I'll bet you anything that Safeway knows about this and I wouldn't be surprised to see some bonus Airmile coupons or deals come out from Safeway Pharmacy. I love it when they have to fight one another for our business! Stay tuned!

RCSS has a 2x the superbucks offer on prescriptions right now, posted it in main deals forum: http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/127015-...a/#post1834416

Not sure it beats out your SDM offer though, mcminsen!!

My nearest SDM is three minutes away and my nearest RCSS is three miles away. So, I initiated the transfer of one prescription (I'm presuming it's just the one prescription) to SDM yesterday. I don't have to get a refill on it for a couple of weeks so it'll be then that I get my vouchers. I still haven't decided whether to go for the points or the gift cards. They're both attractive for their own reasons.
