Summer 2012 in Canada to be hotter than normal: forecast prediction

Get ready for the heat! One summer forecast is calling for warmer than normal temperatures for more than two-thirds of Canada, and that includes cottage country.
According to AccuWeather, this summer is shaping up to resemble the one in 2006, which was the second warmest on record.
We've actually had 10 record-breaking summers since 1989, with six just in the last decade.
Environment Canada will release its full summer forecast on June 1, but senior climatologist Dave Phillips told 680News they're predicting a hot one.
"We're calling for June, July and August. The preliminary look is warmer and drier than normal. Although I think it's going to be hard to match last summer when it was about two-and-a-half degrees warmer than normal," Phillips said.
CityNews meteorologist Jill Taylor said the summer of 2011 certainly brought it with the heat.
"On July 21 last year, we had a humidex reading of 48 at Pearson. It was 51 with the humidity downtown," Taylor said.
Phillips said we've been on a roll in the last 12 months.
"Toronto has been warmer than normal every month and just because we came through winter than was non-existent -- the warmest and the least amount of snow ever -- doesn't mean that nature is going to all of a sudden turn on us," he said.
