I didn't try stacking at Walmart but I have to say the bad experience they encountered probably had more to do with them being ill prepared for the the whole stacking process than it did with bad apples. I have found that a lot of cashiers at Walmart are short on experience and therefore get flustered by coupons in general. It seems to me they way they introduced this stacking it was doomed to failure.
Save-On Foods/Price Smart should take notice of the problems this Walmart encountered and should better prepare for stacking before rolling it out if they ever do.
This Walmart seemed to almost do it on a whim without properly training their staff or understanding all of the issues involved with stacking. London Drugs Policy is one that is pretty finely tuned after much experience. Any store should start with LD's policy if they are thinking about stacking. Also I think dedicated stacking lanes are a must if Save On does decide to do it. They could equip the stacking lanes with their more experienced staff.

That is awesome to hear. I love stacking at LD. It would be a lot easier to just go to WM to get everything in one shot without price matching. Pain to go to LD multiples times to PM 2 items at a time. My only fear is the people printing coupons make the fine print more complex or specific or whatever necessary to stop stackers. LD doesn't seem to care what the fine print says. So long as it's not expired and the barcodes are different.

From my understanding Catalina coupons that print for a specific product at the store, as opposed to Safeway coupons whcih are more like advertising from local stores. More like the coupons you can get at SOF when you scan your card at the kiosk in the front of the store.

All I have to say is my a 17 year old daughter works at a Walmart out here in alberta.....She is paid her minimum wage, with minimum training (no fault of her own). I would not wish upon her 50 if not 100 couponers on any given Saturday presenting stackable coupons. If the training is there then fine. BUT...I can tell you 100% that Walmart is NOT ready for this.
Most of their employees are under the age of 18...and working part-time (I am not saying this to dimish their intellegence in anyway but seriously.....how many 16 & 17 year olds working for minimum wage are going to REALLY look at the coupon to make sure it matches the 'rules'). All this will do is leave a bad taste in 'Corporate Walmarts' mouth because they wont be able to collect what was given.
London Drugs has obviously trained their staff to accomodate us. ..I appreciate what 'stacking' has allowed us to gain...BUT....if it comes on too strong, too fast, big coroporations are going to put a STOP to it pretty quick.
Just My 2 cents.~~~~~**Cat**~~~~~

I don't believe age or the majority being young should be considered in decided to try this or not. I believe there is a very high percentage of workers which are young that are far quicker and grasp change and adapt far better then most adults or senior workers. Most are quicker with math skills and giving change back without counting in slow mode.
IMO, I feel the store was not prepared as many have said and very likely ppl were pushing to sway the rules and purposely try to get more while they felt they could.
I agree with everyone who have said there should have been assigned tills for multi coupon users (they have so many tills which aren't open, they could do that). Train 2 or 3 cashiers and start that way. As it progresses and word of mouth, more cashier can be trained.

I agree WM was new to this and probably not prepared but we all knew this so that is no excuse for people going in and trying to push the limits and get as much as they could at the beginning. This could have been an incredible opportunity for all of us for a long time if people had been patient and understanding. Now it's over practically before it even got started. I'm sure none of those "bad apples" were starving or in dire need of what they were trying to get for free (or money back). Maybe I am out of line but my thoughts are shame shame on you! Your greed ruined it for everyone.

That's unfortunate for you Langley WM shoppers. I hope the store realizes the avid passion some of their custmers have for couponing. Perhaps they need to go back to the drawing board and put together a more workable plan of action, set in place a good training policy for CSMs and Cashiers, and designate the Customer Service Desk as the till for couponers/stackers to use for thier purchases.
Perhaps it would be helpful for all you Langley WM shoppers to offer the Manager these workable solutions.
Hope it all works out for you!!

Maybe you misunderstood my reasoning behind my comment on the age issue. What i was saying is , the amount of training that Walmart invests in their employees is very minimal. I agree with you that 'younger' employees are more adapt to change and do have quicker skills as far as math goes....BUT...pelase remember....these are also kids who work for minimum wage and dont really care if Walmart loses out with coupons never mind stacking. I DO know 100% that if my daughter was working cashier and had a lady come with her stacking coupons, she would probably not question a thing...relying on the 'lady' to be honest with what she is doing. In my experience...I have dealt with 'older' cashiers that dont understand what the coupon is or how it is to be used and I have to explain it. So age isn't really the issue at this point....it is more or less teaching employees, regardless of age....the rules of stacking. And unfortunatly this is resting on Corporate Walmart. Which....again...is not that promising.
