Flying from Australia in style

Yes, we rented a car. I used http://www.vroomvroomvroom.com.au to compare prices amongst the major companies, then went with hertz. There may be other companies who are cheaper, but we'd rather stick with the majors.

Ahhh yes, we have been looking at that site to get prices..... I sent emails to rentabomb and some other local company I had never heard of.... and neither of them replied! how rude!!! Mum told us it would be better to stick with a reputable company..... which of course is a better idea!

Flying back from Australia, I was already dreading the 15 hour flight. But then that changed once I found out I was upgraded to Business class. Made better that they kept feeding us and the booze was free flowing throughout the flight .

Estimates:
Economy fare paid: $1200
One way business class: $4100

Difference? $2900

That's awesome. If there was ever a flight to be upgraded on, it's that one! I sometimes arrange travel at my job, I've spent as much as $10, 000 for a one way business class airfare from Sydney-Toronto...so, a free upgrade is a pretty great deal!!

When we travel, we simply ask at the check-in gate if there is any room for upgrades. We've asked 4 times, got upgraded 2x, and never been charged anything extra. If they have the space, they sometimes allow it.
