Lots of you participate in swagbucks and i was thinking about joining up this year to maximize my free things. Can anyone tell me about the program and how they've benefitted from it? I'm still reading through the site, but i'd be interested to hear about others success stories.

I haven't benefited to the degree of some members. I don't sign up for offers, I have pretty much no referrals. But I've been using Swagbucks to search for the stuff I search for about a year, and I've earned quite a few gift cards. I usually opt for paypal instead of Amazon, which doesn't give you quite as much bang for your buck, but it is cash I can do stuff with. Definitely worth signing up for, and I've had no spam or other problems with them.

Thank you Nikkialeta for asking this, I am also wondering about the benifits of swagbucks. How does it compare to using the airmiles toolbar, which has more value?

Personally I use both. Most of the time Swagbucks are random, but you won't get two close in a row, so I wait for a win on swagbucks, do a couple of AM searches and go back. You really only you need to do ten AM searches a day to get the 30 AM anyways. I find it's slower for me too, but I've still gotten two seasons of the Tudors for free and am working on enough pts to get Pillars of the Earth free, more than half way there now
Did you see the pool? They flipped the B!tch!

    I'm going to South Korea!

Personally, I use both the Airmiles and Swagbucks toolbars for searching Gotta maximise the savings

Swagbucks you can win in more ways
    - daily points: there are four areas where you can go to a page and get 1SB daily just for viewing the page or using the toolbar (1 each for: using toolbar, voting on daily poll, viewing the no obligation special offers and viewing the survey page)
    - SBTV: similar to youtube there are videos you can watch and after so many, you get 5SBs (max 12-15 wins per day)
    - Games: (still in beta so not everyone has access) for every 2 games you play, you win 2SBs (max 5 wins a day)
    - Searching: Search wins are random, you don't get a point for every search like Airmiles. You can win between 5 and 1000 SBs for a winning search but typically they are 7-12SBs and 3 a day, sometimes 4 a day
    - Codes: Special winning codes are released randomly. Someone usually posts when there is on in the swagbucks thread These can be anywhere from 4+ SBs
    - Occasional promos: sometimes they run promos where you can earn extra SBs for collecting certain denomination bills or something else
    - Special Offers: There is a special offer page where you can earn SBs for everything from signing up to a site, joining a mailing list, adding a facebook app, shopping online etc. Each one has its own requirements and payment.
    - Surveys: Each survey has its own level of payment depending on the company offering it, there is a daily one for 26 on a special offer page and 38 on the Survey Page, you will not always qualify for surveys but I have had some paying 300SBs (long ones admittedly)
    - Referrals: Get your friends to sign up under you and everytime they win searching you get matching SBs up to 1000

    Amazon.ca $5 cards are 450SBs
    Paypal $5 are 700SBs

At 60SBs a day (average - 4 for dailies, 3 searches at 7SBs, 4 SBTV wins, 5 game wins and a code at 4 (and these are minimums, and no 'extras' I often earn way more per day) so 1800 a month) you will earn $20 in Amazon cash or just under $15 in paypal

Airmiles you get 30 Airmiles max, you need 140-175 for the lowest amount giftcards which is $3.50ish a month
Make an easy $20+ per month with Swagbucks - watch videos, search, play games & get paid!

Save while shopping online with cashback from ebates
Get cash rebates when you buy from amazon.ca, Old Navy and more - get paid by cheque or paypal!

    As far as benefiting:
This is my most recent buy with the Amazon cards I earned from Swagbucks (and some surveys, but I have well more than what I earned from surveys left in my Amazon account and have redeemed before): Monitor & MP3 player

I have also bought ink for my printer, books, extra memory for my computer etc

While you can earn gift cards on your own, it goes MUCH faster if you have referrals. Each person who signs up under you, you get matching Swagbucks for their search wins, up to 1,000 Swagbucks for each person. Many of my Facebook friends signed up, I had a lot of active referrals back then. Now I only have a few, but even if I get an extra 30 Swagbucks from referrals in a day, that adds up!

I mainly use it for searches. I have a really slow internet connection so SBTV is pretty much out for me. I can usually redeem a $5 Amazon GC twice a month from searches and 3 out of the daily 4 (would take forever to download the toolbar for me).

Can someone clear up a Paypal question?

I've read it and for the life of me I don't understand. Do I have to use the paypal money within a certain time period or can it sit and accumulate in my paypal account? Like once it's there it won't go poof?

    It will never go away.

Regarding the swagbucks - I've been using it for only 2 weeks now. I had enough within the 1st week to get a $5 amazon gc. I find it very easy, and I just view a few pages on swagbucks each day and search. I don't do any of the offers.

It sits in your paypal account until whenever you use it (or you can cash out and have your paypal balance put into your bank account)
