Wow that is NOT RIGHT at all!! I work in an elementary school with special needs kids and not one of them are isolated like that. I even went to a PA day seminar where ALL teachers were told that isolation could hurt the child and we should never do that!

Thank goodness you spoke up!! What a creep! I don't think he has done anything to your son but everything you said sounds freaky to me and should be reported to the board office right away. They usually take these things VERY SERIOUS.

Good luck and good for you for being so brave. Now just go further (to the board) so the teacher knows this type of behaviour is inappropriate and will not be tolerated.

I forwarded your story to my husband (who is a highschool teacher) and he said to go straight to the board AND Alberta College of Teachers. He couldn't get over your story and thinks the teacher is "messed up" and "would love to have met him in person"...lol.

I have another school that is the same distance I could enroll him in..Thats what I was going to do at first, but then I convinced myself that I was just being to paranoid..Going over the whole incident with you guys really makes me think maybe I should just take him right out of there. I just feel bad, this is his 3rd year there, he has all his friends...But saftey first..this guy is working right across the hall from my sons class..

If you move him to a new school he'll be very angry at first and he'll miss his friends but kids are amazingly good at adapting to new environments.

Just make sure you meet his new teachers before you make that move.

There is a lot of attention paid toward protecting our little girls from those out to harm them - OUR boys also need to be protected and it irks me to know that there are so many sickos just waiting to get at our children.

You def did the right thing - no reason to isolate your son, certainly for no good reason and without consulting with you beforehand.
