If you live in Toronto or Montreal , Public Mobile has unlimited province wide calling for only $ 15 / month .
This is cheaper than your landline

We are having lots of problems with WIND Mobile with calls that continually get missed because the phone doesn't ring, etc.
Does Public Mobile have any reception issues or the like?

Apparently their reception is much better than Wind Mobile as they are not trying to expand as quickly as WM ..they are just focussing on quality as opposed to quantity right now ..so in the limited area that Public Mobile does have coverage they are apparently very good ..that's what I heard .

tjthemanto is right in saying if you want a basic phone service.
Tried Public when they first began operating in Toronto but ended up switching to chatr [chatr's network piggy-backs off of Rogers so it's very reliable] a couple months later because at that time their coverage and reception was pretty poor. If you look on the website coverage is better now but you will be subject to roaming charges should you wish to call any further north than the 407 (i.e. Vaughan, Richmond Hill, etc.). Can't comment on if they've made any improvements in reception...
So, in brief, if your calls will be mostly in their coverage area give them a go. After all there's no contract!
ps - I've been happy with chatr since I moved. Yes, it's more expensive but you get what you pay for!Last edited by lammie; Mon, Apr 11th, 2011 at 12:07 AM.
