Hi all - I am new to the Optimum card program, and wondering if there will be enough special points events and such leading up to Christmas that I could possibly get my point up to the maximum redemption level by Christmas. I've had my card a couple of weeks, and with the first of the two 20X events that just passed (I missed the second one, the Wednesday one), I am already up to about 19,000 points. I got about 18,000 points on the first event.
I am hoping to buy more of our regular household stuff at Shoppers on sale, and maximize purchases there that we would be making anyway, in order to get those points up for a good redemption before Christmas.
So, here are my questions:
1. How many more of these 20x events are likely to occur before Christmas?
2. When is the closest bonus redemption day to Christmas likely to take place?
3. Are there any other general bonus events I am not familiar with?
4. Is there any way to get the bonus points coupons other then online? Are these really worth it? They don't seem to usually be fore items we'd buy regularly. I don't have a printer.
5. Is there anything I need to know about actually redeeming my points that I might not be aware of? I realize I have to cover taxes. Can you use redemption $$ on anything, or are there limitations of some sort? This thread is currently associated with: Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug Mart

1. i would say the 20x are done each month. there have been 2 surprise wed ones recently and they did a 50x cover girl promo.
2. last year they did a redemption around the first week of dec. it was a mega redemption that gave you 250 for 95000 points. It would be nice if they did it again but who knows?
3. other bonus events to gain points happen throughout the year. they just had a super redemption for 80000 points gave you 200 back. these things are unpredictable.
4. there is a glow magazine at shoppers that has offers in it. however, there is a price for it and i'm not sure how much? probably not worth it.
5. you can't redeem on gift cards/lottery/bus tickets/post office/prescriptions.

Bonus points are awesome if its for something you buy anyway! Check out my thread & others help by posting too!

The points add up fast especially on 20X days & next week is 18,500 wus $75 (but bring total down with coupons)
By Christmas you should have lots of points....last year they had a Mega bonus redemption for $250.00 for 95,000 points!! whooo!!!
Oh it might be worth it to invest in a printer for printing great coupons!! It will pay for itself in no time!! WM has a cheap HP for around $20 on sale sometimes!!

There have been 3 in June so far , two of them were events where you needed to print off something and bring it in and 1 was advertised to all. it's fairly easy especially if you take advantage of all the bonus offers, for example I love baby lotion so I used coupons and got the 1000 in store BP promotion and printed out a BP coupon for 2000 for Johnson and Johnson products, so 3000 in total for the two lotions! Last 20x event I made 29,000 points .. I've had my optimum card since June 1, participated in 2 20x event and already have 53,000 points which is $85 rewards!!!
