Help Understanding Coupon Stacking

Earlier when skimming through the forums there was a person who mentioned they used several coupons to get a good deal on ziplock products... but I had a hard time trying to understand.

I cannot find the thread, but I believe the person used two in-store coupons for 1.50 each (I think they called it Coupon Zone), and then there was another coupon for $4 off when you buy 2 and another coupon for $2 off when you buy 2.

Let me give a crack at it and then could someone tell me if I'm right or way off?

- You will purchase 2 ziplock products
- You can use 2 in-store coupons; 1 for each product you are buying
- You can use $2 off when you buy 2 on the first of the ziplock product
- You can use $4 off when you buy 2 on the second ziplock product

And this is totally fine depending on the store I'm going to?

I just figured that if I am using a "$2 off when you buy 2" coupon, that it would apply to both products.

You are kind of on track - you need to have many coupons to get this working - do you have the UPC code numbers?

I was able to stack coupons for Tylenol at LD like this:

Save $3.00 on Tylenol Back Pain 18 count (printed off the internet)
Save $2.00 on Tylenol Back Pain 18 Count (printed off the internet – my LD said they would take up to $5.00 worth of internet coupons. The email I got from LD on their coupon policy they would take 1 per visit. Sometimes they say only $3 - it depends on the cashier)
Save $3.00 on Tylenol Back Pain 18’s and 40s (from Save.ca)
Save $4.00 wyb any 2 Tylenol Products (from Save.ca)
Save $2.00 on Tylenol Muscle Acches & Body (from Save.ca)
Save $2.00 wyb any one product brand displayed (emailed a request to Johnson & Johnson, you can request coupons once a month)
Works out to Save $16 when you buy Tylenol Back Pain 18 Count and Tylenol Muscle Aches and Body. I did a Price Match from the Walmart flyer on both items a few weeks ago and got both packages for $1!

It really gets fun to stack with ones like Save $5 wyb 3.

Not quite.

In order for you to purchase only 2 ziploc products you can use 2 of the instore coupons for $1.50 and you can use only 1 of the ziploc manufacturer coupons (because the terms of both of the coupons you mentioned require you to purchase 2).

So if you are purchasing 2 ziploc products at $3.50 each you would do this formula:

Ziploc $3.50 x 2 - $1.50 x 2 - $4WUB2 = FREE
($7) - ($3) - ($4)

or

Ziploc $3.50 x 2 - $1.50 x 2 - $2WUB2 = $2.00 for both or $1.oo each
($7) - ($3) - ($2)

You will still be required to pay the tax.

Also keep in mind, that if the value of the product is less than the value of the coupon, Loblaw's stores (and most other stores) will lessen the value of the manufacturer's coupon to match the value of the product. Sometimes it might slip through (in which case the "extra" gets applied to taxes and other basket purchases) but I wouldn't count on it happening as only Walmart technically allows overages.

The other thing you can do is bring in a competitors flyer and get a price lowered on the ziploc. This is known as a PM or price match then use your coupons to bring down your total to hopefully zero.

Yeah I had a coupon for $5 when you buy 3 gillette products, and $1 of some gillette shaving cream. I bought 2 deoderants and the shaving cream and they would only allow me to use 1 of the coupons saying that it was if you buy 3 items, therefore you can't use the shaving cream coupon.

But I got 2 free deoderants for my Husband as the deoderants were 2F$5, so I only paid $2.99 for shaving cream.

I'm still a bit confused about his as well. My coupons from coupon zone say they cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon so I would only be able to apply their coupon zone coupon and not the $4WUB2 coupon...is that not correct?

Wildfire 79, I guess it depends on where you shop and maybe the cashier you get! At my local Independent Grocer, I am able to use a coupon zone coupon as well as a manufacture coupon together.

That to me is the definition of coupon stacking which I thought was only allowed at London Drugs...or do I understand coupon stacking differently...

The difference is... coupon zone is a store coupon... so the store gives you a discount of $1.5 then you use a manufacture coupon and the manufacturer gives you $4 towards the purchase of 2. this is why the stores allow it.

if that confused you in the past i am sure the buy one get one free will too so i will explain how that works too.

Only thing better then getting one free is getting 2 for free! tax applies still unless your getting freebies from walmart or from shoppers.

Thanks, that does help...going to take practice but I'll get my head around it eventually...as long as I don't have to try to explain it to the cashier for my first few go arounds. lol

I've never been allowed to do that at Superstore or anywhere else either. You can do it this way on say the Scrubbing Bubbles at LD:

Buy 1 SB get a toilet duck free
Buy 1 SB get an aerosol free
Save $2 on SB

So with your coupons you have to buy the first item (the Scrubbing Bubbles) but would get the TD and the aerosol free and can use the Save $2 on the one you have to purchase. That would be the proper way to use B1G1.

At Superstore you could use 2 B1G1 coupons from the coupon zone and manufacturer but you would always have to pay for 1 and get 2 free.
