SDM Polaroid DVD Player - is it any good?

Does anybody know if the Polaroid 9" portable dvd player that's on sale @ sdm for $79.99 any good? Also, what is the regular price of this @ SDM? I think the 7" one is almost the same price as the sale price. Silly thing to ask, as since DVD players are slowly becoming obsolete, do these normally have any usb drives as I've got lots of movies on my external hard drives. I missed out on getting one during the last 20X Optimum pts and really want to get one for DS. Thanks.

I got them during the Boxing Week sale + Redemption sale (I think it was going for $64.99 or so). I got 3 of them (I have triplets!) and they have been life savers. So far so good -my 3 year olds are pretty rough with them.

The only thing I find very annoying is how fast the battery runs out. Then again, I can't complain. They are free!

I just checked out some reviews and they look okay on Polaroid DVDs in general. The review I read was for one specific model and it made mention of the speaker sound being week. This review was for a specific model and I did not read that same thing for other Polaroid DVD’s. Amazon has reviews for similar models and everyone seemed very happy with them. I have another brand already and I would say try to make sure it comes with a car and home charger in case the battery does not last long. A remote is a bonus as well (I believe it comes with it). The screen size looks like a 7" but the pic is not to clear. Portable dvd’s are life savers if you have kids. My DD watched hers all the time in and out of the Car. I am actually thinking about getting this one as she has used the other one so much she is wearing it out. I bought my current one at BB and it was over $100. I hope the info helped. I think I will get one.

We got them for our boys for Christmas, it is a great player. We have not had any problems with it. Our boys have used it like crazy.

Really depends on what you are going to use it for. Are you using it for just DVD's or do you want one that plays CD's, DivX, mp'3 etc. I doubt that one for this price would do all of that. You would have to check the box to double check, should say on there.

If you are using it just for DVD's then the price is good. If it is junk, take it back and get a refund on it! No harm in trying it out!

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. It was quite helpful. I've been to a a few locations in Burnaby, but couldn't find one. I will have to keep checking different stores so I can hopefully get one on the next 20x event or redemption.

I got one yesterday but it was hard to find. I called ahead to 6 stores on Friday to see. I was told by one store that they were basically only at stores that already had them and they were clearing out stock. If you try for the next one call ahead and see who has them Friday and they will be the ones you have success at.

Thanks. In another thread, there mentions a secret 20 x event on Wednesday, so I think I'll start phoning around on Monday to see which SDM has one. However, I won't drive more than 15 kms each way to get one unless I'm going to the area for another purpose as well.

I am pretty spoiled we have 7 within 15-20km of us here.

I've got lots of SDms near me, just not one with the DVD player. I just think it would be worth my time, gas $ & commute to drive too far to get one.

I agree! Too bad you could not find it at a Best Buy etc and price match or Walmart I think they have them there. That is what I was thinking when I called to. It does say it plays DVD,DVD+ R, DVD RW, CD RW and Picture CD.

Thanks for the info. Is there a usb plug or I'm I pushing it. I'm really after the pts, otherwise, I'll keep an eye for a cheap one at other stores.
