Having just sold my duplex almost a year ago... i would definetly not own another one until the laws change here in quebec. Laws seem to favor the tenants too much here, we were stuck with a tenant who didn't pay for six months, we couldn't kick him out, and when he finally left, we had to spend thousands of dollars fixing the apartment. Thank god we bought it when the market was bad... after five more years of bad tenants, we finally sold it and made great money!! So all in all, it was worth it, but SCREEN your tenants! Good luck!

We own two rentals - both are single family - since we have awesome tenants, we don't have any complaints so far. The tenants have stayed long term.
