I use the PC cloth bags for most things (don't use them for meat as it drips too often)
I actually have more than I need and have started giving them to my family..
If I forget to take them out to the car in the morning and I stop for groceries I buy new ones..my way of telling myself I am a bad shopper *L*
I was also very excited when our local Wal*Mart started selling bigger reusable bags for shopping there. I think they were about $2.00 but they are nice and quite big

For groceries, we always use plastic bags because we reuse them around the house for garbage bags as well.
Although for other types of shopping like (clothing), I bring my own cloth bag. I bought one of those cult bags saying "I'm Not A Plastic Bag", might as well use it

Paper isn't an option? I use paper bags and get 3 cents/bag when I return these bags where I got them (well, I only tested it at Metro, Maxi and IGA)

I use my backpack too, when I remember and plan on going to the grocery store. It's so much easier on my muscles when I use my backpack since I walk a bit a ways. If I don't have my backpack, it's plastic (and I reuse them).
