They are really bad in Red Deer too. My daughter and I were swarmed when we walked through the park today.

Even with all the wind those things still get me. Last nite I was splitting some peonies and I was swarmed, bites on top of peeling sunburn really, really hurts.

I went out last night for a walk and LITERALLY WAS RUNNING FROM THEM! IT WAS AWFUL, they were attached to me like leeches and they sure can keep up with you! haha
I went to try and buy some bug repellent, and couldn't find anything this morning but I will try the organic store later, since I like the stuff without chemicals...it smells nicer

I make my own to save money and get away from the chemicals!! Here is the "recipe" if anyone want to give it a whirl. I was at the park yesterday with my two kids and there was a field right beside us with LOTS of misqutoes around and neither of my kids got bitten. I got a bite on my arm but that's because I didn't put it on until I got there and those buggers got right to me LOL
The essential oils that work well against mosquitoes are:
- cinnamon oil, lemon eucalyptus or regular eucalyptus oil or citronella oil
- mix with olive oil or sunflower oil
I would recommend putting it on every 1 1/2 hours if you are consistently outside, sweating, swimming, excersicing etc.
Good luck!
Joy

I called planet organic and they said that you can mix citronella essential oil with water and it does the trick, just spray it on, I am gonna try it tonight and i'll let you know
FYI even though I got bit last night my bites are still itchy hahah

It's the dog I feel sorry for. If he lies down outside, they swarm him. You can see the bites under his coat!

don't appreciate them trying to fly up my nose either! Guess it's time to bring out 'the suit'
