So my DH is a long haul truck driver. For the past 2 years he's been domestic Canada but in the next few weeks he'll be going all over the east and central states.
The first thing that I thought of is USA Couponing!!! Of course he will NOT do this himself and I will have to research what stores take coupons, where he'll be going and what stores have a discount card. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to go with him and make sure he stops for the night somewhere I can get out a Meijers or Krogers and shop.
The whole thing is exciting but also overwhelming. They have so many items and brands we have never tried PLUS I'm just learning the couponing ropes here in Canada. The thought of doing it all again in the US with their extreme coupons! OMG. I almost want to say forget it because it seems so overwhelming.
Has anyone got any tips for me where to start or reputable sites like SC for the US? He's got limited space in the cab and I told him if he lets me come along I swear to wear the same t'shirt and jeans all week and pack my suitcase full of food allowed to cross the border! LOL.
I just don't know where to start...This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Go to the store websites for the States you will be going to. They have different policies per state. A friend of mine in Florida is pretty Extreme so she sent me some links. I live close to the border but haven't done much couponing there. Last time I was down I did get a card for Fred Meyer, you can load coupons on the card electronically.
Here is the info from my friend in Florida...happy shopping
I do shop with coupons 100% I do save 80% to 90%, we do not have supermarkerts who double coupons in Florida (ocasionally Kmart); I do shopt at PUBLIX, very seldom at Walmart, annd some items at Target.
I higly recommend this site they have a very large COUPON DATABASE, and ALL the stores around the USA, but also has a section for couponeers around the world.
There are several methods to organize the coupons, I have a binder, I made the coupon inserts with sheet protectors, place inside a color paper and sew the pocets in the sewing machine, that way I can use both sides; the baseball cards pages have too small pockets and only one side. I do have several categories like: cereal; rice, pasta & Tuna; Butter, cheese, & yogurth; sauces and dressings; refrigerated; frozen; bread and cookies; sweets; disposable; cleaning; etc.
I do buy 4 papers on Sunday and get inserts from friends and neighbors (never dumpster diving).
Some other sites I get great info are:
this site
www.couponingtodisney.com
www.myfrugaladventures.com
www.sothernsavers.com : I get the list of items that are on sale each week at Publix (it has more stores as well) with all the coupons available, print it out and get my coupons ready for the trip. Couple weeks ago I get pay $13 for over $120 on groceries. I do buy what is on B1G1 and other items athat are on sale and that I have coupons for. I have been couponing for 22 months and have deodorant, body wash, pads, liners, for about a year; also cleaning products, detergent, laundry sheets.Last edited by jujubetwins; Wed, May 18th, 2011 at 11:57 PM.
