I was at SOF yesterday to buy a few items that I could stack. Before shopping, I went to customer service to ask about their stacking rules. She mentioned to me that it has been very frustrating for them that some couponers are actually arguing with the cashiers about adjusting coupons.
Their policy is not to adjust coupons down so PLEASE just accept this and DON'T argue about it. They have their rules and we will lose stacking privileges if we aren't gracious with cashiers. This thread is currently associated with: Save on Foods

I went to SOF in Parksville the other day and used about $65.00 worth of stacks without a problem! They are wonderful there!! But please respect the rule of no adjustments down...and everyone benefits!!

I like shopping at SOF but am still a bit leary of attempting any coupon stacks there because of the restrictions. I am curious, what types of coupons are people using that get past the restrictive wording etc..?

If the coupon has restrictions you cannot stack them anywhere, no retailer can do that or they risk not being reimbursed.
I assume they are not giving any overages nor do they want to "make money" on the coupons unfairly so they are saying coupon total value must not exceed the item...fair enough.
Please be gracious when using coupons. Some people get so intense about saving. Saving is good but you are still saving even if you aren't getting the item for free or getting money back. Know the policies of where you are shopping, there is a fine line between making sure they are following their stores policy correctly and browbeating them to do it "your way".

Just note that Save on More, and Price Smart May have the same head quarter but they are actually different stores different prices but same policy.
I spoke with the manager yesterday about the coupons and she said to me that because of all the people that do stack it is really frustrating having people who do coupons everyday and argue with them about there policy, a policy is a policy you bid by them or don't coupon and more, people who are tight with money and need to save do this but that doesn't mean you need over do it and be that "extreme" and ruin it for the rest of us.
As of the 16th of May, they have changed there policy, due to people who use more then one coupon, but if you have a coupon saying 1.00 off but the product states that its on sale for 0.75 they will give you the coupon back saying that they can not accept this coupon because it is more then the product itself.
So, like everyone else said, I totally agree with them 110%.... to everyone who is to the "extreme" please just stop and think about everyone else that does couponing because if this is contiuned the end result is that there will be no stacking nor couponing allowed in Canada, so just keep that in mind please and dont be the one who ends up ruining it for the rest of us.
THANKS!

Went to the SOF in Nanaimo at Country Club and they were awesome! My cashier said I was her first coupon stacking customer, confirmed they have implimented the new stacking policy in their store. She was patient and kind, it was a great first stacking experience for me!! :D

I was told that when stacking coupons the coupons have to come from a different media source, have a different UPC, are not expired and cannot total more than the actual product cost.

That seems to depend on your SOF store. The Fleetwood (Surrey) store was great the first week or so, but last Sunday morning they started to say that if the coupon said "one coupon per purchase", it could not be stacked. The Asst. Mgr. asked for patience as they sorted things out. I went in today before I shopped and asked at customer service about that wording. I was told no coupon that says "one coupon per purchase" can be stacked in their store. That means that really, almost nothing can be stacked there. I'm disappointed because I have shopped at that particular Save-On-Foods every week for the past 20 years. On a more positive note, I stacked at another SOF today (Newton) and they were awesome. I was extremely careful with my stacks and they accepted every one of them with a smile. So, given the $53 I saved by driving across town, it's easy to tell who will be getting my business. I would love to continue supporting the Safe-on-Foods in my neighbourhood, but not for that amount of money.
Maybe I will feel more positive about them in the morning and go back in and talk with the Asst. Manager and explain how all the other SOFs seem to be interpreting the new rules. He really is a nice guy....
