Book Your Moon Trip for $750 Million!

(Newser) – Looking for a cozy getaway for two with guaranteed solitude? Startup space venture Golden Spike has just the thing, but it will set you back a total of $1.5 billion. The company run by former NASA execs plans to offer two-person trips to the moon by 2020, reports Nature and the Washington Post. “Two seats, 750 each,” says CEO Alan Stern. “The trick is 40 years old. We know how to do this."
The price tag might be exorbitant, but the company thinks some corporations or even foreign countries might sign on. If that happens and trips become routine, the price would come down. Golden Spike doesn't make its own rockets, notes Eric Hand of Nature, making it "more like an airline company rather than an aircraft manufacturer." It would have to contract with other companies, possibly SpaceX. Space.com has more on the logistics of Golden Spike's travel plan.

Would make quite the Christmas gift - but not sure how many will be getting it!!!!

Organizers of the Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market apologized online to a family who said their Santa had insulted a three-year-old boy. (Facebook)
TORONTO -- A wise-cracking bad Santa is now unemployed after the jolly old elf insulted a three-year-old boy Wednesday about his plaid coat and Leafs tuque.
Mary Trent said she was shocked by the behaviour of the Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market's Santa Claus in the Distillery District as her son, who was first in line to visit him, approached him. After Santa arrived a half-hour late, he proceeded to insult the boy's red plaid coat.
"The first thing he tells my son is, 'Oh, you look like Paul Bunyan'," she said. "Really? Is that appropriate?"
"Then he said, 'Oh, you're wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs tuque; you shouldn't be wearing that, they suck.'
"At that point, I took my son and told him we should go, Santa isn't being very good today."
Trent said her son was inconsolable and cried all the way home to Mississauga, Ont.

Geez, he is a Bad, Bad Santa!!!

Missing his gig at Yuk-Yuks by the sound of it.
Seriously though, would a 3 year old have understood?

Call it a NHL lockout or call it a strike,
No hockey for Christmas, so ask for a bike,
Billionaires & millionaires duke it out,
The season's a washout, is there any doubt?
On the plus side they'll be nobody getting concussions,
Meanwhile in pubs there are opinions & discussions,
Back in the days before hockey was big bucks & egos,
It was more sticks to the ice, don't you know mis amigos?
Hockey has always had its share of bullies & goons,
Now that title belongs to a gaggle of greedy tycoons,
No Coach's Corner & no blinding jackets to be worn by Don Cherry,
& I wonder if Gary Bettman's Christmas is going to be merry,
Maybe it's time to move the hockey news to the end of the line,
The lot of them should get into a tub together, shut up & just brine.
