Hello All! Well, it was a sad day at the THS today. I got this e-mail just before I arrived there,

As you all know Whispy has been with the Toronto Humane Society since July 2010. He has been battling numerous medical issues including reoccurring pancreatitis, diabetes and kidney disease. There have been many times over the years when his failing health has caused serious concern but somehow he always fought back. Unfortunately this time he has not and today our veterinary team along with Jacques has made the very difficult decision to let Whispy go.

Thirteen year old Whispy was officially adopted by THS last October. As the unofficial THS mascot, Whispy has been a fixture of the THS call centre. He has always been there to greet staff, volunteers and visitors with his loud vocal cries for attention. In fact, his voice often carried into the neighbouring board room where during meetings we always believed he was reminding us to remember our mission.

Whispy is currently resting in the call centre and we invite all of you to visit and say your last goodbyes before 4pm today.

A few people were called who worked there but had today off and they came in, one fellow who works in adoptions and was quite close to Whispy came in to spend the afternoon with him and was the one who wanted to hold him during his last few minutes. They don't make that decision easily and he was going downhill quickly ........ a lot of tears were shed by many today............. poor Whispy.......rip.....

So sorry about Whispy... It's never easy losing a pet... They are truly a part of our families....

Jake didn't have a very good day yesterday. Wouldn't eat, play.... just slept.

That is till a friend stopped by. He perked right up, played, ate his dinner .... Thanks friend.

I guess because he slept most of Wed., he had me up @ 5 this morning. I'm tired already. lol

Gee Chers, that's a REAL shame. I'll admit, you sound more forgiving than I'd be.

OMG-that is awful Chers!

You poor thing! that is terrible. I can't imagine how upsetting the whole experience was for all concerned. Isn't it just like you have compassion for the other guy.

You all would feel the same way too.. he was so embarassed and befuddled.. I felt so bad... he will loose his independance and that could just destroy someone of his advanced years.. I hope he has family to run his errands
