Good morning, everyone.

Yesterday turned into a do-very-little day, although I did manage to cook the last of the beets (methinks I will never buy 10lbs of *anything* that has me domestically inclined again ).

Unfortunately, it rained most of the day, so the brats & I never got a chance to enjoy the brief warmth (it's rather cool outside this morning, I'll save the word c*ld til the sn*w starts to fly and the ice sets in ). This up-down weather is causing a certain someone to shed like crazy (well, all 3 of us really, but only one leaves a whole dog behind on the carpet when she lays down ) so lots of vacuuming in my future.

Here in Canada, attending driving school is optional, but it's compulsory that all Germans attend Fahrschule, or driving school. Turns out, it's also much more difficult than ours.

Maybe so now, it wasn't always the case. Then again, when my Dad came to Canada in 1956 as a refugee, his English was a bit lacking when he went to get his driver's license. He used Matchbox cars to demonstrate how he would handle various traffic scenarios (and passed!).

And there's absolutely no alcohol consumption for anyone less than 21 years old.

In Europe? Seriously? I'll have to let my German friend know that she was breaking the law at a young age. This must be something brand new influenced by the American media. I remember going to get vodka from the corner store with my little cousin when I was 10 (she was 5 and leading the way ). Granted that was Communist Hungary, where the only freedom afforded the people was alcohol consumption (and yet very few accidents, I can only remember one instance of seeing someone who was an alcoholic in all the times I spent there).
