Happy Vet Day and Caturday!
Human doctors are of course highly skilled professionals, but they are only required to provide care for one species. Vets on the other hand have to have a general understanding of the anatomy and physiology of dozens of critters - no easy task!
On top of that, their patients aren't very helpful when it comes to describing what hurts, showing their appreciation, or even just refraining from biting the hand that heals them. Being a vet can certainly be a thankless, dirty and dangerous occupation at times.
Here at the Toronto Humane Society our vets are required to work long hours, and often stay well past their shifts to ensure a patient is receiving the care they need. They frequently see instances of neglect or cruelty that would break your heart, and encounter diseases that many private practice vets have only read about. They are responsible for the well-being of hundreds of animals at any given time, and must always be ready for the next emergency that comes through our doors.
For these, and countless other reasons, we say thank-you to our veterinarians. The Toronto Humane Society wouldn't be the same without them.

Afternoon All.
I was pleasantly surprised by a TMN On Demand movie I watched last night. Can't believe I actually liked Expendables 3.
Truth be told, I was partial to 1 and 2 as well. I love it when actors don't take themselves seriously; even better when they self-parody. I enjoyed RED and Space Cowboys for the same reason.
Opposite of spoiler alert ... if you do watch Expendables 3, make sure you stick around to the very end. Rather apropos karaoke song choice.Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

Great Sunny Day eh? Started out at 9 a.m. for a free yoga class down here - free for today for their 2 year anniversary - then a party later on. Walked along the beach - then sat out for a few hours reading the paper. We just made some "Black Bean Chia Brownies" made with - black beans, eggs, coconut sugar, coconut oil, cacao powder, chia seeds, vanilla dark chocolate chips and cacao nibs. They are quite tasty. Tried one when I listened to a talk by Joy McCarthy author of Joyous Health - my daughter bought me her book last year. She was giving out samples.
Wolfie - So glad you left that job before they have to close down and you got a better one too! Way to Go!
Have a good one everyone!
Great pic of Quincy andi - Happy Caturday to her........Daisy will be happy with the tin of food I give her for a change but Amy is too finicky so there's no use giving her any......she takes one look and walks away whereas Daisy goes crazy!!!
