I Received some News Yesterday that left me Stunned and in a Daze...

My Previous w*rk Place will be shut down for good in 2x Months.
They lost a Key Account and are now losing money.

95% of the people there are from Good-to-Great, so I Feel horrible for them!!!!

It was being made H3LL for me by one of the 5%, so I left.
That was a little over 6x Months Ago.

I am still Stupid-Busy these Days, but the Pay is far Better.
...and no more Standby, so my Weekends are no longer Chained to Potential Phone Calls.

So... if not for that one-out-of-5%, I would probably still be there, thus suffering with the same News/Fate.

Karma?

Wolfie, I'm so happy for you, not only for release of all the stress you were under, the peace you felt finding a company that's appreciates all your hard work, but the relief you must feel that if you hadn't left when you did, you'd be up sh!t creek, wondering 'why didn't I'. Yes, karma. I feel badly for your coworkers, but a little bit of 'you deserve it' for the others.
I hope the other will find work quickly.

No need for humble pie, the universe was taking care of one of the good folks.

I went through something similar years ago when I first got really sick. My workplace was all set to put me on a reduced workload when I started dialysis. I went in to do the paperwork for it & was laid off. 2 months later, the company no longer existed (an auxiliary office was mixed up with the Enron scandal, so about 600 folks in the GTA lost their jobs). If I had still been with the company, I would not have received any severance. I still wonder whether it was coincidence or whether the nice gal at HR had an inkling and had me laid off (for my own good). I choose to believe the latter.

Good morning, everyone.

Happy Caturday!

First time Friday was fun! While most people would consider it rather boring, I was fascinated with the complexity of setting up dozens of lights to give the illusion of street lamps or moonlight or a sunrise. I got to lie in a bed, perch on the edge of partially put-together furniture, sink into a bean bag chair (& try to climb out of it without falling off the stage!), go into doorways still under construction, and crawl around on the floor - all so that the director, lighting expert, stage manager and various crew could determine whether the actors will be properly lit. Oh & get teased mercilessly when the bathroom light kept mysteriously turning on.

So far this morning, I have already spent an hour spying on neighbours with Lily dog and taken Quincy cat for a walk in the hallway. Think it might be time for a nap. We'll see if any chores get done later, or if it will be sleepy Saturday, just cuddling with the brats.
