GO Trains Resume Commuter Service After Bomb Threat

Commuters using GO Transit along the Lakeshore West line were left stranded for hours during the afternoon commute after a phony bomb scare and a police investigation. Police were called around 3pm to investigate a suspicious package at the Exhibition GO station. All GO trains and TTC service was shut down in the area. Full service wasn't restored until 9pm. The bomb squad was called in and destroyed the package just before 7 p.m. There has been no word on whether the package posed any risk to the public but reports say that it looked like a pipe bomb.

TIFF Kicks Off Today As It Celebrates 40 Years

The Toronto International Film Festival kicks off today as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. While you can expect a sea of screaming fans and Hollywood stars the next week and a half, the festival wasn't always this big and popular. It launched in 1976 as the Festival of Festivals. This year, TIFF expects talent like Julianne Moore, Salma Hayek, Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Ortiz Hits Career Homer 498 as Red Sox Rout Blue Jays

David Ortiz hit his 498th career home run and the Boston Red Sox beat AL East-leading Toronto 10-4 on Wednesday night, sending the Blue Jays to just their second series loss since late July. But the Yanks lost too. Tonight the Jays & Yanks start a 4 game series against each other. Go Jays Go!
