Advance polls open at noon

Advance polls open across Canada at noon today and will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. through to Thanksgiving Monday. ​ For the first time in a federal electoral race, the advance voting period has been extended from three days to four. The address of advance polling stations in each riding is printed on the back of the voter information card sent to every eligible voter's household.

Seatbelt use a concern for OPP heading into long weekend blitz

Thanksgiving weekend is upon us and that means a number of things, including time well spent with annoying relatives. It also means a heavier police presence. The OPP are launching project impact, which will run through to holiday Monday. Cops will be targeting the usual offenders: speeders, aggressive, distracted and drunk drivers. Not being buckled up gets the blame for 45 deaths, a number that is on the rise. Some holiday closures - Monday will mean government offices, banks and schools will be closed. The LCBO and Beer Stores will also be closed but most malls and grocery stores will be open.

Donaldson, Bautista hurt as Jays fall to Rangers in Game 1 of ALDS

More than 50,000 people packed the Rogers Centre for the the first MLB playoff game in Toronto in more than two decades and every single one of them left the stadium disappointed. The Jays were dropped by the Rangers 5-3 to open the ALDS. Manager John Gibbons is not overly worried though, especially with such a quick turn around into game two. No word yet on whether Josh Donaldson will suit up for the Jays after taking a knee to the head during a slide to second base in game one. Jose Bautista was also removed from the line up after a slight hamstring pull, but the right fielder seems good to go. Today Marcus Stroman goes up against Cole Hammels – first pitch is set for 12:45pm.
