I love Point au Baril!

I usually do my Pike fishing there. I also caught a nice Musky up there as well.

That's where my dad Jimbo owned a 15 acre island from 1968 until he sold it to the Bata's in 1985. That was my paradise during my childhood. I remember my dad every evening at sunset we would all go for a boat ride with our drinks, martini for my dad and go out to the Pte. Au Baril lighthouse and watch the sun go down. Totally awesome. Used to do tons of fishing caught some awesome big Pike and pickerel. I got to know most of the people from Pointe Au Baril and also the richies from the Ojibway Club. Those are the people my dad and mom hung out with. I used to go to Larry's Tavern also which was sold to the highway 69 people to expand the highway. I loved it there in Pointe Au Baril never to be forgotten.

Yes I remember Larry's tavern! My buddy knew the owner. I forgot his name, but it wasn't Larry. Anyway, he would let us store our Pike fillets in his freezer if we were camping at the Provincial Park.

We also did lots of fishing in the Shawanaga river for Pickerel and over by the lighthouse for Pike. The pike tasted better if caught in Georgian Bay rather than all the weedy channels. We also went swimming at Hole in the Wall between two islands.

Great times! Perhaps we crossed paths at Larry's Tavern and didn't know it.

That's the good side of loss when we get to remember so many great times and places where we created our pasts.

I recall passing Pointe Au Baril on the way to a friend's cottage on the Key River, a little further north of there many times in the 70s and 80s. Beautiful country up there. That's where my buddy Joe and his Mom-in-law who we lost last fall want their ashes scattered .

I am already home from the hospital. How about that? Left the house at 6:45am this morning & it was chilly, cold & very dark. Traffic was on the lighter side of town & you sure can't beat that. I did not have to wait in any of the labs or clinics. Didn't even have the chance to play on my ipad & they were calling me in. Usually I am down there at PMH for several hours. Today worked out perfectly.
