Last week there was a contest going on at Gerrard Square so I took a walk over and put an entry in the box, just got word that I won the $350.00 worth of gift certificates to use in any store there, they have Winners, Home Hardware, Staples, Beddingtons, Walmart, Food Basics, the Source etc etc so I'm sure I won't have any problem using them up! That was one worthwhile walk!

That's crazy feeling "selfish" for talking about cancer Loocie, you are not being selfish in the least, you should talk about it. I'm sorry you have to go through all the treatments and uncertainty constantly, it must be very, very trying to say the least. You can talk as much as you like about it to us.....we are here to lean on......

My father had that terrible stroke which ruined his life but in the very end it was lung cancer that ended it all and my best friend died from cancer as well way too early.........

Thursday February 4,2016 in World Cancer Day. So many of you are affected by cancer in one way or another. For me it's just always there. This past Tuesday a lady who was very special passed away. She had the exact same sarcoma-cancer that I have. It just hits home for me. I feel like I must continue to fight & somehow come up with a strategy that declares me an official winner. Sometimes I can tell you that I feel selfish when I go on about it....

Cancer moves in quietly & always without permission,
It is the goal of its victims to send it into permanent remission,
It is cursed, it is merciless, it invades so invasive,
It is harsh; it is cruel, so savage & abrasive,
It has no shame, no mercy & it cheats victims of all ages,
So we must pick up the gauntlet as it quietly rages,
It can make one so angry, so feeble & entirely ballistic,
But it can’t steal your hope & your trust to remain optimistic,
We all know the story & the many chapters in the cancer story,
& it has nothing redeeming & it certainly has no glory,
But, it can be fought & discussed, as it needs to be vented,
& the sorrow we frustration we feel is justifiably lamented,
Incredible people who are merely living their lives,
Are so caught off guard, as uninvited it arrives,
Goodhearted people, our family, our neighbors & beloved friends,
All wishfully longing for cancer to please make amends,
One cannot endure this albatross from way back in the bleachers,
So many variances & types with many different features,
Keeping the hope, the faith & sharing your dossier with others,
Helps keep you sane & hold onto your druthers,
Don’t think about blame, or fuss about fault,
I’d like to triple lock that monster in a sealed shut forever vault!

While waiting for the Q to play that darn song I made some Black Bean Chia Brownies. Black Beans may sound strange to use in brownies but you don't notice the taste and they add more goodness to them, the ingredients are coconut sugar, coconut oil, raw cacao powder, chia seeds, vanilla extract, dark chocolate chips and raw cacao nibs. Tasty and good for you too!

Loocie, very sad to hear of your friend's passing. It is a tough time but stay strong! We all know in some way what the demon Cancer can do to someone.

Rocky, glad you are able to finally get away as it has been a tough winter for you. Enjoy Mexico and the all the scenery or senoritas you can. As for our Habs, I am now happy if we try for last place as one, they will finally decide to put Price on IR for the year and better to have him 100% next season than 50% or less! And 2, want one of the first 3 picks as that will be good to find us a sniper!
