Freezing Rain Warning Issued For Parts of GTA Ahead of Winter Storm

It could be a messy drive into work later this morning. Environment Canada still has a special weather statement in effect for parts of the GTA, warning of possible of flurries or freezing rain, depending on the temperature. Just plain old rain by the afternoon as we reach a high of 2°C but it will be quite windy. Some snow is on the way tomorrow though as the temperature will drop throughout the day. Halton Catholic District school buses are cancelled today for schools north of Steeles (Zone 3). but all schools are open.

Muzzo Expected to Speak At Sentencing Hearing Today

The admitted drunk driver who killed 3 young children and their grandfather in a huge crash last fall is back in court today as his sentencing hearing continues. Marco Muzzo will address the court, marking the first time he’s spoken. Several emotional victim-impact statement were delivered yesterday with Jennifer Neville Lake telling Muzzo she has no one left to call her mom because he killed her babies.

As I was heading off to work, just after 7am, the freezing rain had started. Roads still weren't too bad, but at 4th line & 17th sideroad, there were lights flashing of every description. The police were turning everybody back as they had the road closed. I headed back up to 22nd sideroad & down hwy 25. That wasn't too bad. By the time I got to Milton, it was white stuff coming down & still is. Take it easy & pack your patience.

Good morning, everyone.

Mom is still in emergency (she keeps getting bumped whenever there is a bed available). Not happy about her being around other sick people & their germs, otoh there are lots of people keeping an eye on her, whereas she'd be left alone in a room upstairs. They did more tests and took some fluid off her lung to help her breathe easier. Dr saw some "spots" on the ct scan, so more tests have been ordered. Glad they are being thorough, but I am convinced the "spots" are from pneumonia (they still won't confirm that's what she has). She's getting antibiotics, so that makes me happy (my suggestion would have been a heavy dose of cipro from the outset - that fixed me up within 2 days when I had pneumonia). Lesson for the day - don't try to wait things out, get to a dr at the first sign of something amiss. Sigh.

My bff was with her yesterday, but Mom insisted that I was the one needing help, so bff came down for a visit to lift my mood. I didn't realize until bff showed up with dinner, that I hadn't eaten anything since lunchtime on Monday (I completely forgot to have dinner, I was so stressed, sigh). Mom insists I continue with my plans, as I can't do anything to help (I'm not allowed near hospitals with my lack of immune system). So, I'll be off to jury duty in a little while, then theatre plans tonight. I wanted to cancel my theatre tonight, but Mom was insistant that I go and have fun (I've been looking forward to Gaslight for months - it's my favourite film).

Still stressed, but at least I've had something to eat & a bit of sleep. Really, I just want my Mommy.

Off to start my day.
