Morning Q sters,
Another 3H day out there. This summer has been awesome! Especially for those who love the heat..................ME! I know some of you are thrilled, some not so much, but i look at it this way, for 9 months of the year, i'm go from cold to freezing to frost bitten, back to freezing, then cold again, while some of you love that weather & think it's great. The least you can do is put up with 3 months of warm, warmer, then hot, which doesn't happen every summer, unlike your cold, that can invade my warm. For month of July & so far August, i get to be warm, don't have to wear a sweater, jacket or coat. I love it!

I'm gearing myself up for another visit to Princess Margaret tomorrow. I just hope that traffic isn't too messed up with construction & anything else that may be going on.

Andi, thanks for checking in with us. Wish I had some words of wisdom to offer that would help you to feel better, but we all know it takes such a long time to feel "normal" again.

HT - Total agreement with you, hoping with Global Warming we are going to get 8 months of summer! I am not a winter guy!

Lee - Rocky's car is a 1965 Pontiac Beaumont, which I believe is his Dad's. It sure is a beautiful car!

Sirius is also known colloquially as the "Dog Star", reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Big Dog). The heliacal rising of Sirius marked the flooding of the Nile in Ancient Egypt and the "dog days" of summer for the ancient Greeks, while to the Polynesians it marked winter.

Just to add my two cents:

Sirius is a white star that is in our celestial neighbourhood. This star is only about 10 light years away from our Sun. It is also a double star. There is a much smaller star, Sirius B, traveling with it in their orbit around the galaxy. Sirius B is very hard to resolve in a telescope because of the brightness of Sirius A.

Speaking of brighness, Sirius is also the brightest star in the night sky, shining at a magnitude of -1. There are brighter planets in the night sky these days, but Sirius is the brightest star.

Now that I have bought up the subject of planets, in the western sky at sunset, the bright "star" you would see is Jupiter. Closer to the western horizon and low in the sky you might see Mercury and Venus. Mercury is the higher of the two, but Venus is the brighter of the two. They are low in the sky and hard to see through the twilight glare. Also, it is best not to have any trees or buildings in your line of sight. These two planets will only be up shortly after sunset.

At sunset in the southern sky, you will see Orange coloured Mars and to the left of Mars is Yellow Saturn.

See if you can spot all 5 planets these days! (6 if your count Earth)

I wonder if the heat affects it.

I did my lawn this afternoon. Boy that was hot work, but they really needed it after almost 3 weeks of growth.
