Wynne acknowledges election is lost, urges voters to still vote for party

An emotional Kathleen Wynne on Saturday acknowledged that she will no longer be premier after the June 7 election and encouraged voters to elect Liberal candidates to prevent the NDP or PCs from securing a majority. The move comes as Wynne and her Liberals try to save the party from electoral decimation this Thursday. The only way to keep the province's next government on a "short leash," Wynne said, is to send as many Liberals to the Ontario Legislature as possible. Wynne takes part in a Toronto media blitz this morning, followed by events with supporters in Newmarket and Midland. Andrea Horwath has events taking her right across southwestern Ontario. Tory leader Doug Ford has only an announcement in Scarborough that takes place later this morning.

How do the parties’ transit plans stack up?

We are just days out from the June 7th election and the latest Ipsos poll is taking the pulse of voters when it comes to road tolls and transit. Fewer than 50 percent of those surveyed here in the GTA are actually in favour of road tolls if it means the money raised will go to fund transit projects. All three parties have made big promises on transit. The liberals have promised investments of more than $106 billion over the next decade. The NDP platform promises to restore provincial funding for municipal transit operations to 50 per cent, a move they say would support investments upwards of $800 million in local transit every year - more than 40 per cent of which would go to Toronto. Ford has also pledged an additional $5 billion for Toronto’s subways and two way go transit service to Niagara.

Hug Your Cat Day is one of those pleasingly straightforward holidays. Quite simply, it is a day in which cat owners everywhere are encouraged to hug their cats. The more dedicated amongst them will not need this encouragement, of course, but it is always good to be reminded of our feline friends.

Friday's concert was decent. Peter Frampton came on at 6:15, but we missed it because we were stuck in traffic. We did see the entire Journey and Def Leppard concerts though.
I don't have any pictures as they turned out crappy on my phone, but I did take some videos which are on my Facebook, for those of you who are friends. If you want to be friends, PM me.

Doug Ford, brother named in $16M lawsuit by widow over Rob Ford's estate

Renata Ford, the wife of late Toronto mayor Rob Ford, has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $16 million against Rob’s brothers, Doug Ford and Randy Ford, and their associated businesses days before the Ontario election. The lawsuit claim filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Friday by Renata’s legal counsel alleges breach of trust as it relates to the management of her husband’s estate and claims the loss of millions of dollars. According to the statement of claim, it’s alleged – among other claims — that Doug failed to administer Rob’s estate, sold Rob’s shares in a family business for “nominal consideration” and withheld assets “in an attempt to keep his misconduct secret.”
