They won't allow a overage ( I.e $ 1.01 overage ) ..they will reduce it to the product value ..$ 2.99 ..but some stores won't even do that
..they will flat out refuse the cpns ..but usually most SDM's will accept it by reducing the value of the cpn to match the product price

Advil is supposed to be taxed..right?
I got 4 packs today, the cashier mentioned how the coupons were over the price of the item. So I asked if she could punch it in as $3.99- she did. But she punched it in as 2002. -no points! Oh well, I ended up not having to pay tax. I even mentioned it to her..but she just asked if how I knew. lol Should have used my other 3 coupons!

Which Toronto newspaper had the purex coupon in it? I have already used mine up at other sales and would love to get some more.

I used 3 more coupons today, the cashier tried to enter them as $4.00 then the computer stopped him, he started looking for a superviser, I told him to put them in as $2.99 so he did and it worked! Also got 2 bottles of Purex free with my $3.00 coupons!

I had two of these Advil coupons and I used them today and got the $1.01 x 2 overage! Woohoo! The cashier forgot to ring in one $1 off coupon for another item (because another associate started talking to her while she was ringing my stuff in) but I'm not complaining. I still came out ahead and she was friendly!

That is so ridiculous how you were treated. I've had experiences like that too. I had no problem using my coupons at my SDM though, and they gave me the overage ($1.01 x 2). I think that some cashiers simply don't like coupons or couponers. No wonder I always feel so self conscious using coupons, but it shouldn't be that way!

I've only been couponing for a few weeks and have yet to receive anything free so when I read this forum yesterday I was BEYOND EXCITED!! I immediatly drove to SDM and to GCSS in order to find the $4 tear pad coupons.
This morning I drove to 3 different SDM's only to find that their shelves had been cleared out!! Went to 3 different WM's to find exactly the same thing. Than I remembered that there is another SDM on the westside of town and I really wanted the deal so I thought I'd check it out. Lucky me.... they still had a few boxes but they werent marked as being on sale, I had a copy of the flyer in my bag (in case I needed to price match) so I went to the till with my 4 boxes (didn't want to push my luck). I dont know if I caught the lady on a bad day or if she just hates life in general but she was BEYOND RUDE!!!!
First she started by insisting that I was only allowed to use one of the $4 coupons (tearpad) per transaction. After trying to explain to her that no where on the coupon did it say one per transaction she literally shook the coupon in my face and said very loudly JUST ONE!! So I calmly said "Ok, than I would like to do 4 seperate transactions please" as I spread out my advil boxes and coupons to match. I then stated that I understood the coupon policy would not allow for overages so it would be best if she rang in each coupon at 2.99 instead of 4 dollars. She gave me the rudest look and said "This is a huge waste of our time you know!!! This is totally unacceptable. I'm going to have to ring them in at 2.99, you can't have the coupons at $4!!" (Isn't that what I just said???? But instead I smiled politely and nodded my head while painfully biting my tongue.... keep in mind that there are now people in line behind me looking at me like they think Im trying to rob the place or something!!). She rang them in as 2001's and I gladly paid the tax on each box. When she was done ringing through all 4 (without taking my points card
), she started lecturing me again "I'm gonna make a sign saying that this is unacceptable and a violation of the policy so that no one else gets away with this. Next time you come in I'm going to make you come in and out of the store 4 times because your holding up the line!" to which I replied "If you had asked me to come in and out of the store 4 times I gladly would have done so, I know this is a pain for you, but no where on the coupon or in your policy do I remember reading anything about needing to do so. But if you had asked, I would have. Thank you for doing this for me" and I smiled... After looking at my receipts for a minute she actually smiled back (although I'm unsure how genuine it was) and said "good for you kid, you should hang these on your wall, have a nice day".

OMG! I feel for you!!! That lady needed some love or something!! The store associates act like it's their money we are taking. It's not!! They are not getting ripped off and neither is their store, I just can't understand why they take things so personally. I work as a retail manager and I have learned over the years to just do what the customer wants as long as is it reasonable and respectful. It is alot less of a pain to provide great customer service than it is having a complaint going to head office about my choice of actions.
I wish more people would complain to head office when they encounter associates like these. Even if you are in the wrong in some way, the associate will know there was a complaint laid against them and will think twice about hassling someone. Plus stores cannot correct bad behaviour or customer service if they are not aware of it!
Good for you on sticking to your guns and remaining polite!! I know it was probably very hard.

went this morning and they only had (2) 10's hidden in the 20's in stock and the cashier knew how to adjust the coupon without me telling her, another store had none in stock. I could have made a raincheck but why bother putting something on sale if your not going to stock the shelves with it?

Do all WMs actually take off the entire amount if it's more?? Have people found this to be the overall result? (I live in South London and they seem to be sticklers there.) Do they have it written in new rules?
