I have a question.
I get letters all the time, from various companies such as insurnace ect.. and they always provide a return envelope.. and on the envelope has a prepaid canadian stamp. I was wondering since I throw most of these out, can I white out the address of the company name and then say write in someone else information and send them coupons since the postage has been prepaid?
Or is it a no no? And has anyone else dont this? This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I'm wondering the same thing. Perhaps we can do an experiment.

Yes you can do this. The company who sent you the envelope pays for it once it has been mailed (to whomever).

Thats what I was thinking. If this was the case I think everyone would be doing it and no one would buy stamps! Let me know how it works out for u!

I haven't received an envie like that in a long time. now they come prestamped.. so no stamps to remove.. or an envie that you can reuse.. and envie's i've received i've mailed off as for what it is.. because it was important.

sounds like a great idea instead of wasting it.

I don't think these envelopes are actually "Pre-Paid". I think how it works is that they have an account to which all all these envelopes are going to get charged to once they're actually sent... not entirely sure, but it just doesn't feel right.

I just put a reg stamp over it to make sure it would be sent.. I am potentially just reusing the envelope now.

If the stamps were actually 'prepaid', I'd say this was an awesome idea because the company has already paid for the postage. If it's not actually 'prepaid' and the company is charged only if the envelopes are actually mailed, I'd say that's a different story. Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge about how that works so i can't say for sure whether that's smart or sketchy, lol.
Reusing the envelope (even without the postage) is a smart idea, though.

If you google it, it's completely illegal and you will end up with some nice charges sooner then later.
Its considered mail fraud.Last edited by Sally888; Thu, May 26th, 2011 at 07:40 PM.
