I have no clue about these things, so I thought I'd ask and see what you all think.

I want to get my son one of those little handheld games. Nintendo DS I believe it's called. But there are a few different ones and I'm not sure which is the best one to get...I know there's a 3DS...is that better than the other ones? Which ones have the best games or are the games all interchangeable? Anyone know the prices on all the different ones?

No one buys the first version DS now. There are DSi (with camera), DSi XL (larger screen) and 3Ds. 3Ds images can cause dizziness. It's not really good for young kids. On the other hand, you can switch the 3D images back to 2D, so it's not really a big problem. It's just something to be aware of. Those handheld consoles are final sale. Make sure you know which one to buy.

I have DS, DSi and 3DS. I have to say that the 3DS is so much more fun with all the 3D pictures you can take with the game characters. I am sure your son will love a 3DS.

Thanks! I think I'll go with the 3DS then...the dizziness thing concerns me, so maybe I'll turn that off until he's older. He's just 4, but I thought it would keep him occupied for those times we're waiting in a doctor's office or somewhere where I need him to be quiet! It wouldn't be for everyday use at all.

Now to go find out the price....I am hoping a $200 redemption covers most of it!

The 3D are sold out at most store, the regular price is $249, the DS is on sale this week for $149.

For a 4 year old, I would go for the DSi XL (just bought one for my 5 year old.) Like the previous poster said, most of the 3D versions are sold out anyway. Besides, with the sale this weekend ($149.99) you can also get a DS game and stay below $200! The DSi lite has really small screen but your son would probably like it too. That's my two cents
