Accidental Recycle Walk!!! My first score!

We were driving home and I spotted an art deco looking "welcome friends" sign, by the curb with some other garbage, DH would not stop, so I decided to take the kids for a walk when we got home, and I did.

We walked to where the wooden sign was, and of course, it was gone!!! so we continued to walk, we were almost back to our house when I spotted a bunch of big blue recycling containers behind an apartment building, I decided just to go check it out, and my son ran up and immediately opened one marked "newspaper", laying right on top were 5 complete Brandsavers!!! wooo hoooo!!! I was so excited, I didn't care if anyone was looking, I dove right in and pulled out a Red Plum!

We continued to the next building, and checked out the bin marked "cardboard" I dug a bit and pulled out a Fibre One cereal box with the $5.00 FPC for ice cream still attached! YES!!!! and also a POST cereal box with a full panel of coupons! Everything from Milk to Welches grape juice!!!!!

I am so hooked now!! lol I can't wait for recycling night!!!!

I have stopped for many things and even had an owner or one of their neighbors help us load bigger items into our truck. It is really nice when someone actually is happy to hear something they no longer need is getting a new home. A couple of times when they asked what we were going to use that for they came back with I wish I had thought of that!

This reminds me of the Little Red Hen story, lol. Reminds me of my hubby too. Hope you and the kids enjoy the ice cream and make dh go buy his own, lol.

Omg! We stopped at an apt building on our way home AGAIN tonight, found FPC for juice, FPC for waffles, a red plum, bushes baked beans coupon, July issues of chatelaine and Canadian living!!! Lol!!!

My son is 6, I made it very clear that if he didn't want to do this, he didn't have to , it's his choice! He said he knows and loves it!!!!!
