Sally, I'm sorry you're having a hard time. It really is hard, but you are sooo doing it for the right reasons! Keep that in mind. Your babies need their momma healthy. The irritation is hard to cope with. I've been B....ty today too, but thats nothing new for me! It was a really hard day for me too. I had to go somewhere with my husband in the car for a few hours and he just smoked away in the car! Like...I'm trying to quit here! Tomorrow will be a little easier!

I don't feel to bad now, after I went and got some hard candies :)
and treats.

Hows it going today Chinook?
I didnt fall asleep until well after 4 am, I had to take the patch off. It felt like I was on speed or somethng (Ive never done speed but im taking a guess) Every little noise when Id start to pass out made me heart race and wake me up, I ended up moving to the couch at 4 20 and sleeping there till 8.
I put a new patch on when I got up this morning.
I guess I can't sleep with them on.

Two days in a row with little sleep! That's killer... Day two, fresh start for me. Those patches must be strong. I feel a little grittery today, on edge a bit. The Nicorette helps, but it makes my tongue feel awful. I get a lot saliva in my mouth and I got a stomach ache yesterday. I don't know if that's from the gum or not. Today I am going to buy sunflower seeds. I need to do something with my mouth and hands. Hopefully, this will help. Be strong, my friend, try to have a stress less day and a good night's sleep.

Have any of you tried Champix ? Works great ... it takes away the cravings and if you do smoke .. it's like smoking air, nothing happens. That is how I did it. I never liked the gum and hated the patch I found I still craved.. Champix is a nicotine receptor blocker, it blocks the receptors in the brain and you just do not feel much like msoking and those nasty nic' fits are gone.

See I did research and have my reservations on the champix and on the other pill one.
The champix is researched out to be a 2/10 chance of quitting unlike the original 8/10 as previously thought by the pharmaceutical company that manufactured it.
The other one (darned if I can remember the name) from anyone I've talked to help them quit but also made them stop caring about anything else.
Im also having stomache problems and don't want to take any prescription meds at the moment.
Im gonna go with the patch, because the gum I don't like. I'm not having nicotine fits its more of a ritual that I want one, like when I talk on the phone or go outside with the dog. I'm an outside smoker so basically going outside makes me want one in my hand.
I guess different strokes for different folks, what works for one wont work for the other :)
I even chatted with someone smoking today outside and resisted the urge to bum a smoke, I think I deserve a hero cookie for that one!
Ps Congrats on quitting April.

I've cut way way back on my smoking- I'm giving myself 2 more weeks of cutting back so it's easier on me. I'm just afraid that the irritation and grouchies will be what shoves me over the edge, so I'm going to research the best method of support like the inhaler and gum perhaps- I don't do well on the patch myself. Sally here's your biscuit

day three.
I took the patch off an hour or so before bed, still had trouble falling asleep but not as much.
I did sleep on the couch however because I couldn't handle Chads snoring.
:)
Not doing to bad, or to good either but I haven't had a smoke.

I'm having a bad day...bad day. I yelled at my husband for no reason, slammed a cupboard door and had a huge crying session. My emotions are out of control!! This is hard!!!! Gum helps somewhat. I wonder if it's normal to have mood swings like this.
-
Just a little tip that really helped me... Halls, believe it or not! For some reason the medicine-menthol feeling in my throat replaced the need for the smoke feeling. Just thought I'd share in case anyone wanted to give it a shot!

OMG , I not looking forward to even more moods swings Chinook is the weather okay to go for a brisk walk for some music on?

Also, I've discovered in therapy that I really enjoy meditation to calm me down it only takes about 10 minutes of a relaxation tape (usually with a an ocean sound and a very soothing voice)
