Sigh. It's cold and flu season again, and who knew a flu could snowball into something so severe for a 22 year old...Two weeks ago I caught a 48 hour flu. I thought nothing of it, except for the vomiting and diarehea, but that quickly passed and I was back to work.Fast forward two days. Bam! Cold hits me. Compromised immune system, ya know? But I unwillingly truge through it like all of us do when we have the dreaded virus. Until last thursday...I lost my voice singing at kareoke. There is nothing worse than losing your voice when you have a cold. You have to scream everything at the top of your lungs and it comes out as a mere whisper. Cough cough, hack hack. I can barely breathe as every moment passes. But I continue to work until Saturday, when I went home early. Sunday morning rolls around and I wake up in sheer agony. I was screaming in pain, and debated calling an ambulance. My mum brought me down to the emergency room.Turns out that I had an infection that entered my corset piercing when I caught the flu earlier that week. It leaked into my bloodstream and infected all my other piercings. I had to have 4 of my 9 removed all at once by the doctor, crying out loud as he did it.So it's hospital time. And since I am allergic to most perscription pain relievers (codiene is in a lot of them) I have been perscribed to take 3 ibuprofin and 2 extra strength tylenol all at once along with my antibiotics. Keeping track so far? Add that to my already 4 other kinds of pills I have to take 3 times a day. I am released, but need to return once again that night because the pain is too severe. They send me home with more pain pills in my system. Finally, last night, I need to return to the hospital. Since starting my antibiotics I have developed a rather nasty rash on my trunk. Sigh, I have yet another infection in my body, a yeast infection, brought on by the antibiotics. What next? I don't think I am strong enough to handle anymore.

OMG..that is horrible. Stay strong and insist the hospital keeps you in to find out what is going on with you. This in and out business is nonsense.
You need to be in the hospital to get some tests done quickly. If they suggest you go home, and they make appointments for you, it will take forever. In house patients have priority to testing. FYI.

Aw, thank you. I am trying to trudge on. But I did just get a wicked piece of news. My tattoo artist needs me to be his canvas, so I get my whole back tattooed and get to go to the next tattoo convention to be his model!!!! I am so excited. So yes, I think I can go on now. If only to get my tattoos!

First I think you are a very lucky girl to get thru this. It sounds like it was very very serious. You don't fool around with blood infections.
Second, what is a corset piercing?
Third, take it easy and take care of yourself. Gosh, you need to let yourself rest and get stronger. I'm sure your body is still doing alot of fighting on the inside. I think you should take some vitamins too if you aren't already- at least some extra Vitamin C and D!!!!

Wow Cait, I don't know what to say. I hope you feel better soon.
Make sure that you get some rest and recouperate before anything else... I'd also advise you to wait with the tattoos... your system is still in a period of recovery.
