SDM Vent

Went to the Cambie and 16th SDM (Vancouver) to purchase Dove oil nourishing shampoo and conditioner using the $2 printable coupon, and the cashier informed me that I cannot use the coupon as it is already on sale ("cannot be combined with any other offer"), I tried to argue with her but she said that "that was how they were trained", and then I asked to see the manager and she said she was the supervisor, and so then I asked to see their coupon policy, and she said "it wasn't available at that time".

I gave up, said I didn't want the products anymore and asked for my parking to be validated and left.

I was at another SDM yesterday and purchased Advil and Pampers diapers that were on sale and used coupons and had no issues whatsoever.

I hear yah! I had an issue with Shoppers on Hwy 10 and 152 street! I was going to purchase the Dove Oil Nourishing and the Advil using the printable coupons. The cashier and assistant manager said that they don't take printed coupons. And i was like, but it's in your policy that shoppers accepts printables. The asst. manager said they changed their policy...i did not feel like fighting so i said "that's fine, I'm going to London Drugs" And that is exactly what I did and had no problems what so ever at LD

I'm printing the SDM coupon policy from their Facebook page and plan to go back and talk to the supervisor I spoke to tonight. I hope she'll be there.

Same thing happened to me in Duncan on vancouver island.
Drives me nuts everytime I go in there. I try to price match at Walmart to avoid the hassle. I sent a message on their facebook site .. Hope to hear an outcome soon.... ?

Call their HO & complain ..they will call the store & set things right ..plus give you SDM points for your trouble .

Also post this nonsense on their FB page for others to see ..there is nothing like bad publicity for companies & they take it seriously :)

I was at shoppers last night and bought arm & hammer laundry detergent on sale for 5 used a 1$ coupon (which was supposed to be for a bigger bottle, opps) but i guess the long line behind me intimidated her :D

Ugh! The annoying thing the poorly trained cashiers/managers don't get it. Shoppers gets reimbursed for the coupons they are submitting so what does it matter! I think if some companies spent a little more time and money on training their staff on customer service they'd save money in the longer run (they wouldn't have to deal with as many complaints at least!)

that sucks. the only trouble I ran into was explaining the difference between 1 per purchase and 1 per transaction.

that's crappy! I was able to use my coupons here in Fredericton with 0 issue.

This happened to me as well at the summerside location in edmonton alberta, I contacted head office. Might be worth you writing them as well as it appears they really need to take a look at the how they are training thier employees when it comes to coupons

Good job! Frustrating, as I have had similar experiences (I've never gone to Shoppers though) but I totally understand. You think they would just take it, as they get reimbursed. But sometimes they're such jerks!

Kudos to the people who had a big lineup behind them and the cashier was intimidated!!! LOL

Actually, what I do is ask the cashier to define "purchase for me" then I ask her to define transaction. So she does that correctly, and then I say, I am purchasing 4 products during this transaction, and my coupon says one per purchase, so 4 coupons 4 products for this transaction.

I was given the same reason at Canadian Tire once. they wouldn't accept the coupon because the product was already on sale. Lame.

Geez...they sure know how to turn off customers!! Hope it works out when you go back with the policy! :)

Had the same problem at the cambie and 16th location today! I spoke with the superviser and told her that all my coupons say "can not be combined with any other offer" She claimed that the manufacture will not reimburse them if it says that...ugghh It was fustrating as I was trying to explain to her. I even told her that all the other Shoppers Drug Mart is taking coupons for this item and I have no problems when I was there...She then told me that all the other Shopper Drug Mart is doing it wrong...HUH?? She then told me that I can come back another day after she straightens everything out...HUH? (did she want me to come back and purchase it when it's not on sale anymore?) I just left everything I was planning to purchase and left...I should have vaildated my parking too...but I was so fustrated forgot.

We are all buying the multibontic (sp) vitamins that are on sale for 8.99 with our $10 coupons at sdm.. I used 4 coupons to buy 4 on 2 occasions there with no problems. The thing is they ring it in at 8.99 but get $10 plus the handling fees from the supplier.. call 1-800-shoppers and complain.. they just don't understand the policy

oops I forgot.. I bought 8 of the advil they had on sale on Tuesday using 8 coupons and no probs. This too was at shoppers

Hmmmm now I know that I should not go to that location. I should stick to the one near my house since I have no prob redeeming coup there.
