So I went to Zellers last night and was pretty excited to use my 9 $2.00 coupons on the Iams trial size which cost $1.99. However, they did not accept my coupons as they stated that because the Iams cost less than my coupon they could not accept it....seriously? They said it wouldn't match up when they were tallying up at the end of the night. So I left my Iams there, but was pretty mad about it (privately of course). What I want to know is was I wrong? I got the idea to do this from this forum so people are doing it, why can't I?

Taken from Mrs January's copy of Zeller's Coupon Policy:
The value of the coupon must not exceed the current retail price of the item being purchased. If the coupon states that it is only one per purchase, then you may only use one coupon per purchase. If the coupon indicates, one per item, then you may use more than one coupon per purchase but only one per item. If a coupon value is higher than the cost of an item, then you may not be able to use that coupon to purchase that particular item.
Looks like Zellers you can't use the coupon - but you CAN at Walmart, just not sure how much the trial sizes are there. TBH, I don't do ANY shopping at Zellers anymore - just SDM and WM.
Good Luck!

Different stores have different rules. It sucks that the one you went to didn't work in your favour (technically in THEIR favour because they MAKE A PENNY on the sale)
Don't take it personally. Its them- not you.

The trail bags cost 1.73 at walmart if you can find them...I have only ever found a handful a few times and none the rest of the time...and you get the overage towards your basket or in cash....I always try and have other purchases so it is less noticeable that you are getting an overage...it tends to make people upset...not sure why....

if the coupon states "taxes included in the face value" you could of use it: $1.99 + tax= $2.24... is there taxes on dog food?

I went to Zellers last night and bought 12 bags with no problem. The cashier did ask someone about the price but she said not to worry about it, it's just a penny difference. I guess i got lucky, my WM doesn't have them either..keep looking and maybe try another zellers cause you never know. Good Luck!!!
