I just baked a double batch of these muffins with the kids. I left out the nuts and added a few semisweetened chocolate chips to the mix. They are in the oven right now.

I wonder if anyone can answer for me... I made pumpkin pie from scratch last year and it was great, but I just used the pumpkins grown in our garden I don't know what kind they were. Now I've started to overthink and am concerned with what to buy to make them this year, as the garden pumpkins didn't flourish.
I saw these https://www.realcanadiansuperstore.c...20081484001_EA at superstore $3.77 each, but they did not have any description on 'breed'. I see they also have pie pumpkins listed, but those look to be tiny and probably more hassle than they're worth.
What pumpkin provides the best size value and flavor for pies? If stringiness or willingness to puree smooth is the issue for bigger jack-o-lantern pumpkins, I do own a vitamix so I can pulverize anything like that no sweat.
This week I baked a 8x8" pan of rhubarb crisp. I also made a 9x13" pan of healthier monster cookie squares, zucchini dill baking powder biscuits, and a small batch of roasted pasta sauce.
I baked banana zucchini chocolate chip muffins this morning. The recipe has no oil and no sugar in it.
I currently have 2 pans of zucchini dill baking powder biscuits in the oven. I'll need to go pick our son up from Pre-K. Then I'll make a pan of mini quiche with garden Swiss chard and cheddar cheese. The will be my first try making this kind. I have baked the other two recipes before.
Made pumpkin puree for pies yesterday. Got about 8 cups out of 6 pumpkins I think.
Pizza crust is in its' first rise and will go in the fridge for lunch tomorrow.
This morning I baked oatmeal chocolate chip squares. I'm having one right now with s glass of milk, but I'm finding it too sweet. I haven't made this recipe in about a year. I also think that it is unevenly cooked because I didn't reduce my convection oven temp by 25 degrees to compensate for my glass baking pan.
I made apple pie yesterday. I used lemon rind, vanilla extract, and ground cardamom for seasoning and it worked out well.
