***Note: I finally used my gift card and it went well!!!
* Note: see updates later in this thread to the bad experience part becoming more of a brag... glad I stood up for myself and a good reminder why I am working so hard with my kiddo not to be lazy, rude and listen.*
First stop of the day was Rexall and had the absolute worst cashier of my life. I had never called HO about anything before, despite having valid enough reason to. I did this time, couldn't let it go.
Second stop of the day was Food Basics with some great deals
3 x $1.88 Black Diamond Cheese Slices - 3x.75 coupons = 3.39
1 x $2.99 Minute Maid Simply Orange - 1 x $1 coupon = 1.99
2 x $2.99 All bran flakes - 2 x .75 coupons = 4.24 (both had $8 in coupons on box
1 x $1.67 pint of blueberries
OOP = $11.29
Third stop was ValuMart and after having such an awful experience at Rexall, needed to do something good. While there, an older lady was deciding on pizzas and trying to reach something on shelf, I also could not reach but found something to knock them over to get a hand on them. I handed her one of the kinds and took one myself (only two left). She asked me about them and I told her how much our family loved the Panebello over the others, even though they are also good. She was buying for her grandkids. While I finished my selections with the remaining flavours, I rushed up to the cash to give her one of my Panebello coupons. I had four for myself and one to her. Another day I may have bought the other pizza, but I wanted to do something nice for her. She had already thanked me for reaching the pizza and then thanked my many times for the coupon. Nice lady. I was happy to see that she quickly used it at the cash before finishing her transaction. Following my other stress, it made me feel a bit better and calmer. Hope her grandkids enjoy the pizza. Her other choices were the other Dr. Oetker pizzas which I had no coupon for at this time.
4 x $2.77 Panebello pizza - 4 x $1 coupons = 7.08
OOP = 7.08
First stop, I'll give a short version of what happened. I was going in for a few things for myself and my mother (she just had surgery the day before and I am doing what I can for her). I put my first order up at the cash so that I could sort it out. The cashier proceeded to ring in my entire buggy. I politely told her that I needed separate transactions. It went downhill from there. The ATTITUDE and mouth started from that moment on. She incorrectly charged the first transaction and I pointed it out, she wouldn't fix it. And, I had purchased a book of stamps which she did not give me. I asked for it and she ignored me and went on with my next transaction. She incorrectly rung that one in and threw my coupons back at me saying it was a good enough sale I didn't need them, huh? Seriously!!! I told her it wasn't her business and if she wouldn't put them through on the same transaction then split up the order. She then threw my airmiles card at me and said I didn't need it because it was under $10. I told her that between the two transactions it would be because she wouldn't ring it up together. Confused yet? I sure was by the end. So, paid for it and went on to the third transaction and then she refused the airmiles again. At this point I asked for a manager and told her to refund my other order and give me my airmiles. BTW I still didn't have my stamps from the first transaction, which I was still asking for. By the time the managers (yes, two on shift that day) came to deal with it, they were so confused about what the cashier had done, basically every transaction was voided and rerung in. It would be one thing if she was new, but she isn't. And the attitude and throwing my coupons, airmiles and refusing to bag but throwing my stuff at me. Not to mention arguing with me, not giving me the stamps. And lastly she refused to write up a rain check for an item that said on the shelf to ask for one due to supplier issues. I wanted coke or coke zero, we don't drink pepsi products, they had the 6 pack bottles on sale. She mouthed off at me saying there were plenty at the front door and I don't get a rain check (in front of the manager, only one was still there at that time!!!). I promptly told her shelf says I get rain check, give me the rain check, I want coke! Manager didn't say anything to her in front of me, but you could tell she wasn't impressed. In the end, I did get my stamps, I was shorted about $2, negating my coupons (which I didn't realize until I left, and knew I would be accused of lying... I didn't go back in). Called the 1-800 number on the flyer the moment I got home to start the complaint process. And, yes that was the short version and not even everything this cashier did. I may never go back!!! And in writing it doesn't sound quite as bad, but the way she talked to me, argued with me, and threw things at me cannot be fully described!This thread is currently associated with: Air Miles, Food Basics, Pharmaplus, Rexall PharmaPlus, ValumartLast edited by angelamary; Sun, Sep 11th, 2011 at 10:18 PM. Hopefully the manager gave her the smackdown after you left!
The Panebellos are amazing! The Casa Di Mamas are a close second, but the crust just doesn't compare!

Rep for you for the kindness to the lady.
As for Rexall...that behaviour is totaly unacceptable. Do not allow a cashier to do that to you....glad you called in the managers. I just don't get it sometimes.

In the past two days, I've had bad experiences with staff at Rexall and Dollarama. There seem to be some people that HATE when a customer uses coupons. Some store staff forget that without customers, they wouldn't have a job.

This was at the Brockville location. I am supposed to be getting a call back this week. We shall see. I'm not sure what they can do or will do, but I really want that cashier to be reprimanded! To think she made it out like it was my fault with the managers. I hope they are smart enough to realize that it wasn't, especially since they had to redo all three transactions.

There are too many people not suited for customer service and taking up employment for many that would be so grateful to have work.
I had the BEST customer service at walmart today from the moment I walked in. The greeter smiled while handing me a flyer, my cashier PM'd and accepted coupons with no problems and another person wished me a great day upon leaving. I left feeling so happy !Now working on Christmas 2012 through SwagBucks.

That is crazy! I can't believe you were treated like that and I can't believe the Manager(s) didn't try and rectify the situation right there and then...maybe that cashier was a relative of the owner of the store?

# 1 rule for customer service is never argue with a customer. Maybe they should get her to stock shelves instead of dealing with the public.

Sad thing is, I wonder how many people she has treated like that. And whether anyone has said anything before now, I normally shop weekdays so I don't get the teenage cashiers. Still makes me a bit sick to even think about it. I have also worked customer service, my DH still does. When I told him last night his eyes nearly bugged out of his head. I was so worked up, I had told my mom who is staying with us after her surgery the whole story and she had to prompt me some reminders so I could give him the whole story. I have written it down to the best of my recollection so that I have a check list to go over who contacts me and the complaint number in case I don't hear from the Mon or Tues like the guy at the 1-800 number specified. So happy the two following places I went the cashiers were lovely and I am still fond of that lady who does what my mom does...gets stuff the grandkids will want to eat instead of forcing them to eat whatever she prefers.
