There is every kind of music here - jazz, rock, metal, electronica, you name it. You will be unfamiliar with many of the artists as they are in many cases low-profile, amateur or from different countries, but there are some real gems to be had. I just grabbed Urban Castle Magic's post-grunge album 'Let It GO', and it's great.

You'll have to browse and listen a bit to discover what you like, but you are helped by the tagged categories. Two caveats to remember:

1) - You will need a torrent client like BitTorrent or eMule to download these files.

2) - When you go to download the album, be sure to select in the popup window whether you want .ogg or .mp3 format. If you're using Windows, you'll want to do pushups on your bare knuckles on concrete rather than try to get Media Player to work with .ogg.

No, this is a different KMPlayer. This one is closed source freeware for Windows only.

The true program is called "THE KMPLAYER", suppostly no relation to KDE's skinned MPLayer. But I do know the open source one has been ported too... I just don't like the way it reminds me so much of WMP. (I found photos and dowload of it somewhere, but lost the link :O)

VLC is another good player, until I found The KMPLayer, I used it for my DVDs mostly. But I'd check this one out, the one I linked you to.. right now, it's the only thing tying me to Windows :O


I'm a gamer that also gets daily updates to GMAIL by Google about freeware and open source software, so I know what I talk about sometimes. I'm also waiting for the new version of Kubuntu to see how good it looks... no doubt better then Vista. Aside from Vista's taskbar, I hate everything else about it. So I've skinned my 32-bit Windows XP to look like Vista. And when I get my new laptop for school, Kubuntu is going on, taking over Vista. FOR THE WIN!
