By "they", you mean customs want to charge you $9.98, it has nothing to do with ELF. Nothing much you can do about that, you can pay it first, then appeal it, but that seems like a waste of time. I think ELF has been claiming the pre-discount price as some of their package values lately.

ELF claims that all order over $20 will end up with paying $5 for Custom and additional tax as your local rate. Some people never meet this situation. The value of order ELF claims to Custom is before discount so we have to pay tax for the value before discount. Although you purchase $26 you need to pay tax for around $40 becourse you used discount code.

You have to understand that customs usually pick and choose which packages they want to check and deal with. when you say that you've never had to pay taxes and custom fees before means that you were lucky and they bypassed your package. This totally adds up if you break it down, your $9.98 is the GST+PST (or HST if thats what your province is using) of your ELF order BEFORE discounts plus the Custom charge of $5. Usually when i order from ELF i keep my orders at $19. I still think its a good deal with the $6something shipping through Paypal but I dont think its a good deal if you have to pay the tax/customs fee. Consider ordering from ELF with your friends and if you end up having to pay taxes then you can split it up, it would be cheaper that way.

Yes, there's no way that Canada Post would hand it over to you if you aren't willing to pay the duties on it. I mean, after 14 or 15 days, your package will be returned to sender as far as I know (from reading the delivery notice card). So what good will it do you then?
Think of yourself as being lucky all the other times that you weren't taxed. I'm the same as , I like to keep my order values low so I won't get dinged, or I order with a friend.

Hey guys, I thought I would ask the experts on here.

So I've been looking to pick up the ELF Studio Line brush kit for awhile now, and now they have 50% off the best seller products. So now it's 15 bucks. I'm thinking it's a pretty good deal, but what do you guys think? Do you think I could get it for cheaper?
Thanks.
