Simpson-Sears was a joint venture only in the USA. When Simpsons went under in Canada some of their stores were acquired by the Bay, I'm thinking it was in the 70s but I haven't looked it up.

My Mother was a Manager at a Simpson-Sears in Dundas in the early 60's

I stand corrected on Simpson-Sears. Up to 1978 my direct retail experience consisted mostly of record stores, book stores, pinball arcades and Radio Shack. A department store meant either Towers in Oakville or Robinson's at Burlington Mall.
