I think people don't realize how tricky it is to organize a chain. It is a big unwieldy chain that can get broken by just one bozo that thinks he/she knows how it works and skips ahead a step.
You're right, the people who worked on the chain volunteered their time - you can quickly put in 40 hours of your life helping people sign up. Compensation was simply whatever people in the chain chose to donate. Some nice folks donated points, but most didn't.
I haven't been in a chain like this before but I would be more than happy to donate points to those organizing it, and whoever is at the end of the chain.
I don't think it is possible for people to appreciate the work involved when they have no idea how it is all done and how it works from the organizers' end behind the scenes. It all makes sense to those who are doing it but from the other side it is a bit of a mystery. I don't care what anyone says- It's confusing! LOL
Perhaps what this is telling you is that another chain is not a good idea. I think the people who are on here regularly should PM each other and gather a group and do it amongst yourselves rather than opening it up to everyone and their mother. Go in order of how long you have been a member or something to determine who gets to be first etc.
You should never do something if you really feel that what you are doing isn't being appreciated and these days "time" is a costly thing. Don't give that away easily.
I would love to sign up for it.
Iwoneczka:excited:
I know I will be getting ready for a big Christmas to-do that day, so unfortuantely, I can't commit.
Tempting, but I might let you guys down with time restraints.
I would like to sign up.
Since I already registered (which I wasn't supposed to do!), I could start a chain. Please send me your email address in a private message. I can then send you the chain referral email.
Could one of the more experienced people let me know the best way to manage all the information and any pitfalls they may have fallen into in the past chains? Are there limits to how many people can be in the chain? I would appreciate any advise.
Also, anyone that wants to be in the chain should wait for the referral email before they register.

I don't think there are any limits to the number of members in a chain, but the maximum depth the last time was 20 (plus any stray referrals outside the chain).
I'll be out of town next week, so I won't be able to participate on this one.
Anyone wan a referral email, pm me.
Thanks kittyc but I already said I would start the chain.
Anyone who'd like to participate please PM an email address to me.

I would love to be on the chain too!
